Just a quick question. I read on rc411 in the review of the Losi 8ight that they used the 621p and listed the temp at 230 and the carb settings HSN 3 turns out LSN 4.5 turns out. I tried these settings and these settings are extremely rich. How could they have raced with those carb settings? The engine just sputtered ant about 1/4 speed. The bottom seems about right, but the top is way rich.

I didn't see that article, but I can tell you that if i tried to run my 621t at those carb settings it would do what you describe.

My HSN is no more than 1 turn out, and I'm running 215 after a five minute main. It wont run well if I richen it up more than that. 3 turns, no way.

Well I have run this mil for awhile now and the hsn settings constantly change from day to day. It seems I have to keep leaning out the engine more and more to get it to run properly. I am now at 1/2 turn out HSN from bottom and it runs at 230 degrees. In the begining I was at like 2 turns out? Is this carb crap or what??

dub,
It sound like you may have a bad o-ring. how much fuel do you have through the engine? what glow plugs are you using? I have not had any issues with the settings chaging..for the most part I might have to lean, or richen the high end an hour or two, but that about it.

Have you changed fuel recently? have you changed the type of plugs you have been using? also make sure your bottom is at 2.5 In from flush, if it is out of tune, the top end will be hard to adjust.

Also, what carb are you using? is it the one with the inserts? or the fixed venturi style?

Like I said, make sure that the bottom end is set to 2.5 in from flush, most of the problems come from the bottom being too rich and the top too lean, the experts are probably running other engines? lol ... we have very few issues with the carbs.. everything sounds good as far as fuel and plugs. so it has to be either out of tune, or a bad o-ring someplace.....keep me posted.
