Very Cool Roadtrip - You are RC Field coordinate number 865 in my little database and the first European entry

I have exhausted AMA's list and Towerhobbies, and then added by personal visits and what you have all supplied me with What I'm missing now are the other 5000+ fields that are just out there that we all just love to fly at........... No weblinks, no worries, etc. etc. These are kind of your local carnal knowledge type fields where you just need to know someone who happens to fly at them.

As some of you have let me know through PM's I also want to thank you for your sharing of location data.

I have added a few new columns recently with links. Besides the RC Clubs Website and the Aerial Image links I have added a Field Weather link. Even found Roadtrip's weather over in Germany

As some of you have mentioned I hope to get with Marc while at the Toledo show this year to see if there is anyway to share this info. I would love to start one of those stick pin type maps (the one's you like to find while on vacation to stick your hometowns pin in place). I would like to see it being secure in such a way as everyone e-mails me enough information for me to stick the pin in the map for them.

These are all of the column headings I am filling out. From Runway_1 to Runway_3 are filled in with the different types of runway I have found, for example 1 might = Asphalt and 2 might = Grass, etc. From CL_Pads to Float is simply filled out with a Yes or No.

Longitude, Latitude, Elevation, GPS_Name, Club_Name, City, State, AMA CHARTER #, IMAA #, Web_Site, Image, FIELD WEATHER, Runway_1, Runway_2, Runway_3, CL_Pads, COMBAT, HELI_AREA, FLOAT

I have verified through the imagery all 865 runways. What I'm still filling out is some of the types of flying that are done, everything else is complete (Oh, with the exception of very many IMAA numbers).

I have it now so I can import the file directly into MS Streets and Trips and it makes for not only a very cool map but with the 'Find Best Route To' option comes in pretty handy.

If your clubs site is on the AMA list of links or Tower Hobbies list, I should have you unless I just couldn't figure out the directions given or there just simply were no directions.

Keep the coordinates coming guys and gals, if I can figure out how to share this it might come in handy for a lot of us. I think it's probably the most complete list of RC fields out there right now.

Hi Guys - Just a quick update. First I wanted to thank balsabuster2003 and Tall Paul for the info on their fields. I worked on adding a few new fields to the file last weekend and I now have an even total of 800 flying sites listed. I don't have the newest one posted to my website, but it's not far off. If anybody wants to download the Excel files, the MSN Streets and Trips Files or the Magellan Files you'll find them at Putt's RC Home Page, I am in the middle of moving from Ohio back home to Wyoming and close on our new house April 15th, so sometime soon after that I'll update the files once again. Right now we are living in a hotel and using their computer (after 45 days this is way OLD ). Read the RC Field Sites page first and then go to Documents for the downloads if your interested. I would also really be interested if any has found this useful that has downloaded it so far............

If anyone has new coordinates they've taken to send to AMA let me know as well and I'll add them to the list.

Hi All,

Hastings club just outside the town of Port Macquarie on the east coast of New South Wales, Australia S 31°25'00" E 152°50'30". We only have twenty odd members to our club, (some are more odd than others), look forward to seeing you there?

Cheers,

Colin

Where is the spread sheet?

I know this map is a little boring but it is to show graphically where you might be. The spreadsheet I've developed to hold all of this data also has the each clubs web link as well as a link to the aerial image. I am now trying to fill in detailed data such as grass or asphalt runways, and how many, etc.

Thanks for the coordinates guys - I will add them to the database

Geistware - If you click on the Documents tab on the web site and then go into the RC-Field Coordinates - Excel folder you will find an Excel file for each of the AMA Districts. Just choose the one you want and save after it opens up. I've ran out of room on the web site to just load the big file for the whole country. I have had some of the folks complain a little due to my web site being a freebie from MSN they require you to create or become a member to see some of the data I guess. The nice thing is it's free and I don't send any spam out. I think you can check a box if you want notifed when I add something new is about it. Hope it works, but if it doesn't send me an e-mail and I'll attach the file you want and send it back.

Later and thanks again everyone.
