Hi, I am looking to build my own nimh battery packs but am undecide between using AA or sub-c batteries. Is there any difference between the two other than size? Also, is there any other battery size that would be better, more suitable? Thanks!

Either can be used but more information about your application would be needed if you want recommendations on which is better.

Ok thanks, specs: 7.2v battery pack, sd360 brush motor with plans to upgrade to equivelent brushless soon. It's a park flyer, however I would like a recommendation if possible for this and for what you would define a more intermediate model. I am playing with this one first to gain experience before I spend money on a better one. I hope this is enough info, I'm new to the hobby! Thanks!

You want the lowest internal resistance pack you can find because you are delivering power. Check the specs of the batteries you are planning on using. Sanyo has a web site, NOBS batteries online information is also very informative.
