Hi,

Have a Hyper Raptor titan 50 with a GY 401 and it flies great. Gain is about 60 at this time. Noticed that if i am hovering and give it full throttle the heli jerks a little with the increaded torque tail moving sightly to the left. Is there any special way of adjusting gyro/gain or mix so that the heli will retain heading when adbruptly raising the throttle?

Thx

Make sure your tail belt is tight and the linkage is slop free and silky smooth.

Mine will take off like a rocket and the tail stays straight as an arrow with that combo.

Thx,

I seem to have that same combo but tight belt, smooth controls and no slob but still the tail yields teh first seconds to the increase torque force. Whats is your hh gain setting and tail servo?

Check your REVO mix.

Revo Mix is inhibited. Should it be activated and if so what curve?

Thx

Gain of 60 ... in what mode ... AVCS or Rate?
What servo are you using ... is it fast enough? A slower servo will be a little behind the gyro when it comes to servo commands. You need a fast enough servo to stay up with gyro commands.

REVO should be INHibited in AVCS mode (with 401 at least). Using REVO in Rate mode is your call. To start off with, I would enable it but set it to 0%. This is the same as INH. You already fly like this so it won't be any surprises. Then work your way up, little by little, increasing the setting, until the heli flys to your liking. There really is no hard setting to set it to since it's more dependant on pilot's preference than anything else.

Since you said the tail moves left (nose right) ... the tail rotor would have to be OVER compensating for torque. If the tail moved right (nose left), then the tail rotor would be UNDER compensating for torque.

With a big increase in torque, the gyro may "sense" the torque and compensate with more YAW (nose right) command but a slow servo may take too long to get the heli to respond and by then the gyro may have put a very large nose right (tail left) correction ...
This is just a theory but something to think about.

Good Luck,
d.tipton
