Hey Bob......

I wrote Dub a email last night and he was really quick on the response which was awesome!

I just had a quick couple questions though. I'm picking up a great planes LIL Toni here within the next couple days , and was looking at getting one of the versions of the 90 size motor's. I guess i will go with the "LIL TONI" version since it's made for that plane.

Do I need to be burning a speacial fuel with this engine , or does it run ok on 20-30% nitro type fuels , like cool power's 30% heli mix. OR........do i have to mix my own fuel?

If i do have to mix my own fuel , or it will give the motor better performance , what mix do you prefer for break in , and overall run time after the motor is broke in?

Can you please be specific.......i haven't ran one of these so i might not completely understand some of the mixtures. I'm used to the store bought type fuels. But would love to learn how to mix up a speacial brew to make my Jett motor happy

Thanks Bob !!

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

The 90L, 90LX and 90LXT engines do not require anything special for fuel. Use regular, commonly available sport fuel

Typically regular 10-15% nitro fuel is fine. Some guys do like to run the 20-30% heli fuel, simply because that is what they have in the flight box, and that is just fine too. However the engine runs great on good ole 15%. It does not rely on the high nitro for power.

The only direct recommendation is to run a castor/synth blend fuel. Typically Omega, Power Master, Wildcat, others - all offer a few % of castor in the mix. You can run 100% synth fuel, although it is wise to stick with the blend stuff, and I would not recommend it until the engine has some flight time on it.

Break in the engine on what ever fuel you will be using for flight. If you desire, toss in a couple of extra oz. of castor in that first gallon - up to you. Follow the break-in proceedure provided with the engine, and also available on the web site.

On the Toni setup, I recommend an 11x7 for the initial bench runs. Move up to an 11x8, 11x9 or 12x6 for the first flights.

Bob
