Mine was perfect out of the box and flew well, now after a week in my humid appartment the tali section's control surfaces are warped, any ideas other than replacing them? Foam rocks as it will never warp in my climate. I am not really going to fly it until i find a cure, it's bad enough to affect flight characteristics.

I had no idea balsa was so sensitive to humidity, or i would have purchased a de-humidifyer before the plane. I will keep the next ones in a controled environment. Hope the foam revolution keeps going and replace balsa. Thinking of making depron core control surfaces with covering over them to match the rest of the plane, making it a hybrid!

John,
I would use a HS 65 on the rudder too. The ailerons don't really need 30 oz of torque at .10 sec. Mine balanced fine by mounting all of the components in the stock designated locations.

Which 480 are you running? 910 or 1020?
Phillip

John,
I haven't tried the 11x5.5E yet but others are having very good sucess with the 480/910 and that prop.

Hey guys, think this setup would work?

Hacker A30-16M outrunner
CC45 speed controller
Apogee 2200 mah 3s
hitec 55s
hitec electron
E-Flite 12x6E

sounds just about right, but isn't that a bit too much prop for that motor though? If you've load tested it then fine but if you don't have access to testing equipment i would suggest using a 11x5 instead.

just to be sure, you are using E props and not slowfly, right?

Okay fellas.....I just bit the bullet. I would like to know your opinions on the motor, esc and battery combo that is working the best. I know that they recommend the 450 and 480 but does this give the plane unlimitied vertical and what are you all getting as far as flight time.
Thanks

ync,

i am about to try the hacker a30 16m in mine, my guess is that its going to be perfect, i currently have the 480bl 910 in it and im not happy with vertical. as far as the apogee 2200, i have tried that bat, and also the thunder power 2100, the thunder power is much better in mine, its very noticable. i cant comment on the hs55's because i have not tried them on a plane this size, may be ok though, but IMO i think they are not the best for this plane. i can say however that the hs65-hb are WONDERFUL in mine, that would be my recommended servo, they really are worth the extra $. cc45 is great, im using that one in mine. electon 6 is very good and will be great (im using that in a formosa II) but i just tried the cc berg 7, i have to say this is the best rec. i have ever owned, only one i have ever done a range check with and got to were i could not hear my helper any more and still didnt ever get a glitch during the test. as far as the prop, im running the a30-16m in the formosa II and the absolute biggest prop i could swing without over amping the system was a 11x7E apc. i ended up running an 11x5.5 as my favorite prop for the hacker.

rush7,

i am using the 480, 910 motor and as i said to ync, im not happy with the verical, the plane handles wonderful with it and it will float in for perfect landings every time with this setup. but im just used to way more power than this setup is giving, thats why im going to try the hacker a30 16m. if your a fan of good vertical power like i am, you wont be happy with the 480 motor. as far as flight time i havent timed it but it feels like about 10 - 12 mins to me, i may be mis judging the time though since i dont have a timer. i wish i have ran it with the hacker so i could give you more results of the differance, but i am sure it will be better than the 480 when i get around to swapping the motor over.

this is a great plane i love the way it handles.

john

John.....What do you think about the Tourque motors from Extreme Flight in this plane.
The 2818T/900 is what I run in my EF Extra and it will produce 300 watts swinging a 12x6E APC prop. I think from what the weight of this plane is versus the EF Extra this motor with the Airboss 35 ESC would make a grat combo.
I think that I will go ahead and place my order for this combo tomorrow.
My EF Extra is a ballistic missle and will climb straight up out of site.
I will let you guys know how it goes.
FYI......Here is a link to the Tourque motors
http://www.extremeflightrc.com/html/torque.html
Thanks for all of the help

Dont know if you guys are interested but here is a few pics of mine. It is ready to fly once I get a motor and ESC. I didnt like the the tail setup so I rebent the skid and drilled a hole and cut a notch out in the rudder so that I could install a tail wheel.
