does anyone have exact measurements on where they balance there plane for normal flying?
i suspect something is still not right...seems to wanna stall out on tight turns.. not sure if this has to do with cg or not

7cm from the leading edge of the wingtip should be giving you good results.

hard to tell by your post, but the plane likes to snap so depending how tight that turn is, what your airspeed is and how heavy your plane is this might just be normal. What are you comparing it with?

i found that the tork motor from ef is the way to go motor i put in it is the 2818/ 900 kv has to much power now.

i bal mine at the center of the wing tube and had to add 3/4 oz to the tail. i did do a pull pull mod to the rudder and added a tail wheel to bad this passed weekend was so windy and cold. i did get to fly the heli .

well im not exactly comparing it to anything, just seems like it is stalling and i have to get airspeed to get control back.

Guys, be aware of weakness in the horizontal stab...I broke mine yesterday pulling out of a loop and it took the elevator with it. Just the left side though and was able to bring it in safely. Now fixed with carbon fiber reinforcement on both stab and elev.

Reading some of the questions about motor and props, I'm flying the Power 10 with APC 11x5.5e. It draws 31 amps wot and 16 at 1/2t for 320 watts max. I evaluated everything from 10x5 to 12x6e's and 11x5.5e was the best tradeoff.

Wow, sorry to hear about your bad luck guys.

I'm not attacking the plane or the people flying it but after owning one (wich i still enjoy and am working on again right now) I have to say these are not meant to be put through the tortures of high g's at least not out of the box. If you look at the motor recomendations the 480 is much lighter and less powerfull than the motors some people (iuncluding me) are using. In fact their smaller setup involves 1320mah lipos and an even smaller park 450.

On moderate rates with a light setup i doubt we would be seeing much of these failures. The problem is this plane has a severe identity crisis; it thinks and acts like a hardcore 3d plane but it's built to fly like a sport plane.

My first setup on it was a phoenix 25 esc, a kontronik maxi dancer that i somewhat over prop with a 10x5 CF prop and alternate between 1320's, 2P910's and a 1500mah 12-18C pack (all 3s) Depending wich one i use the flight characteristics changed and it was doing really well though it didn't feel powerfull enough for off the deck torque rolling confidence. So i changed setup. (on this first setup i only reinforced the firewall a little) ranged between 26.5 and 28.8oz depending on pack if i remember correctly.

I put a 103 gram motor equivalent to the torque 2818 900kv, a 45A esc and a 2100 mah lipo. At that moment i felt it was important i reinforce the elevator at the very least and so i did. It's slow speed flight characteristics and it's slow high alpha maneuvering suffered from the added weight of this larger power setup at least that's the way i feel about it, some might prefer it this way, i don't. It certainly did have more than enough power now that i did enjoy...

I have just finished pulling this setup off the plane, reverting to the first one. I will use these components including the hs65's in the Katana MD i am going to get soon, i have obtained some blue bird 371's that i am allmost done installing on the extra now. Re-maiden soon, I haven't stopped loving this plane, it just needs to be understood that it's meant to fly light, smooth and gentle, if we want to tear large gashes in the sky we need to beef some components of it up.

Happy flying!

Much smaller, and i have rarely heard anything good about it by anyone. You are in australia! Why don't you get a PA katana or their soon to be released katana MD (depending on your budget and power system if you allready have one)

I have both. Get a Seagull Extra, it's a much better plane.
