We have a electric rustler and a tekin rebel esc can we put a 9.6 volt 8 cell battery to power it.

Beans, I think what you are trying to find out is if it would be OK to use a 9.6 volt toy pack, like the ones you have left over from your old Radio Shack car...???
Yes you can do that with that speed controll but those little "AA" sized 600 mah cells won't give you much run time or performance.
Nice to see Tekin's website still up, as I was told they went out of buisness a while back...FYI
