Hi all,

Well my wife and I sat down tonight and made a cool pilot for my P-51, we went to Wal-Mart and got some leather and made the flite jacket and I cut up a MGA jet pilot bust for the helmet and the air mask. I went to Toy's R Us and got a blue box 12" swat figure for $7.99
I know he is not a WW2 pilot but he looks like an air show pilot.
To make the jacket my wife cut up his swat jacket and made templates and we used CA
to put it together very cool!! He looks cool in my Mustang.

Regards,
Dan Crawford

Hi all,

Here he is in the P-51. In all he only cost me $12.00 to build. That is better than
$49.99.

Hi all,

Has any one tryed to make real bost tabs on the Ziroli P-51, Or is it not worth the extra work???
I had them on a big Bud Nosen Mr Mulligen about 12 years ago, they worked good, It helped
save on servo power and looked scale.

Hey TL, Capt G and friends

Looks great...can't wait to see how she looks with the alum finish you chose!

I'm just starting my build and went for a precut kit. Just layed down the fuse bracing tonight...sure feels good when you start a new plane and get your fingers glued to the balsa for the first time!

Hey, the Moter box is 1/8 plywood on each side... right? I think they cut me 2 of each side by accident...unless I'm supposed to glue the plys together to make
1/4"???????

Still can't decide on a motor...been checking the web... G62, Brison 5.8, 3w-70i ???? Do they all fit under the cowl nicely? Do I need to really over power her or is the G62 cool enough for a good flyer....it may end up a hair heavier though.

Mat

Hello82,

Nice to see more Ziroli P-51 being built, as for the Moter box it is 1/8 ply.
one side should be 3/32 shorter. you build the box onto the fuse then beef it up when the firewall is in. If you make it 1/4 thick it will not fit into the fuse. Well have fun and if we can help you out just ask, I want to keep this form going.

Dan Crawford

Yeah the MB's are cut right, one side shorter, I presume for the G62 they show on the plans. Did you change your "total" length already for your engine?

When putting in servos in the stab like Capt G did...what are the precautions etc for running long servo leads parallel to the antenna.. It seems everyone needs to add nose weight to this bird I hear...would servos in the rear compound the issue or would pushrods even be heavier because of their length?

How heavy is your pilot?

thanks
M

I run long leads like this in my big CAP - gave me the idea . Just run the antenna away from the other wires - and be sure to use a PCM reciever!

Hello82,

My pilot is lite as I drilled a lot of holes in him. He is a Blue box, but he was not a pilot I made him into one with my wifes help. I have an extra if you need one, my wife just needs to make the leather jacket then you just add the rest $25.00 + shipping

Dan Crawford
