The OMP Edge Hybrid would be a good choice:

The kit is on sale right now, too.

I'm trying to find a 50cc plane myself and can't decide. Might just scratch me a 50 size Ultimate to go with my 37% profile Ultimate.

Has anyone seen the OMP Edge Hybrid or the golden Eagle fly?? Wonder if one would be a great knock around plane?

Haven't seen the OMP Hybrid fly, but have seen the videos on their site. I fly one of their 80" Edge profiles with an MVVS 2.15 with pipe and it's a lot of fun.

I HAVE seen the Golden Eagle fly with the DA 50 and it's pretty sweet. The DA50 is a really nice installation and shows off the motor nicely. Chris seemed to do a pretty nice job dealing with some of the typical problem areas of profiles, such as fuselage strength and servo mounts that are also stab supports. I don't have one of his planes, but I do like them.

If I had a spare DA50 and wanted a profile, I'm sure either OMP or Golden Eagle would be a good choice. Boils down to: Build? or ARF?

Doug

Nothing come close that to the OMP Hybrid in terms of wing areafor this size of engine. A low wing loading makes for great slow speed flight. My big Ultimate with 3,600 squares has a wingloading of around 19oz. I love the way this plane flies. Just finished it this year and the last few flights have had some really slow harriers---just above idle. I wish Mike had (dare I say it) a Hybrid ARF available. Just no time to build right now.

I have the OMP 79" Yak profile. I had a Moki 2.10 on it but it was the second plane for the engine and the Moki got to the point where I couldn't keep it running anymore. So I put a BME 50 on it. Wow 50cc on a 12 pound plane. The power is just unreal. I wish I would have put the BME on it from the start but at that point I already had the Moki so I used it. Its a 3D animal. They don't make 79" Yak anymore but they do still have the 80" Edge.

RNick,

The 80" EDGE is what I'm leaning towards, I have a BME 50 looking for a home and the EDGE has the perfect beam type mount. At 12lbs, should be unreal. thanks ......

RNick,

Do you have any pics of the BME50 on your YAK? I have a 79" Yak kit waiting to be built and I have not decided on an engine for it yet. I was planning on an OS160, but now am leaning towards a Brillelli 46cc gasser.

How much does your BME weigh?

Thanks,
Mark

I don't have any good pictures after changing to the BME. The BME weighs 3 pounds.
