I have a Byron Corsair. I am trying to fabricate a "Straight Mount" for a Sachs 4.2 engine using Byron Originals hardware and a portion of the Byron Originals (2 1/4" aluminum tubing (left over portion after sizing my Byron's Originals Zenoah G-62 straight mount for my Byron Sukhoi). The only portion I need is a flat piece of 1/4" aluminum approximately 4" x 3" that will be welded to the tubing and form the actual part of the mount that gets mounted to the back of the engine after drilling the bolt pattern. Here is where I need the help.

I know I can't just buy any piece of aluminum, it must be a certain hardness or it will fatigue and fail.
Can someone tell me what type of aluminum I should look or ask for? (I've heard it referred to with a "T" number).

Any help on what I need and where I might find it would be very much appreciated. Or, if anyone has a Byron Originals straight mount for a Sachs/Eagle 4.2, I would be interested in it.
Bob
PS I've had no luck contacting Iron Bay Models...I can't even get them to answer the phone!
