I think what I love the most about a thread like this is that:

A. It gets posted and people all know that not only was it an obvious mistake to stand on the end of the runway but then they call the guys out on it. (which is pretty logical, and I am glad no one was hurt)

B. Someone has the cajones to attack back at the guys saying how goofy it was for the two guys to be on the end of the runway...IN FRONT OF A BIG HEAVY FLYING PILE OF DEATH!!!!

Then you use the argument "Everyone has done something EQUALLY stupid in their life"

Ummmm nope your wrong, I have never let a guy run a B-25 Mitchell with one swinging prop into my person. In fact not many people (I assume) can make that claim.

So that would be a wrong assumption on your part.

Use the stations, and if that guys get another plane in the air, leave the state.

I would like to take a moment to be very serious. A VERY tragic thing happened here in Alabama today just a few hours ago. We were having our annual full scale air show and there was a fatal crash involving 4 people. One of the planes that was giving air rides stalled on takeoff just at the end of the runway. The pilot, a man, and the man's two sons all were killed in the accident. I don't know any details of what happened to the plane or why it stalled, but if you could all keep these family's in your prayers, it would be helpful. Most of the pilots that fly in the air show also fly models in our club. This will of course hinder all air shows from now on. It is very rare that there are any accidents at air shows but when they do happen, they seem to last forever in the media.

Well 4 engines are better than 2

Kevka, no disprespect intended, but tagging that along on this thread is inappropriate.
If you would like to start another thread with that as the topic, thats one thing, but you are talking about a full scale crash with actual human fatalities.

This isn't the place for that.

Regardless those folks will be in my families prayers.

Dear Mr. Liberator,

I did not bring this subject up for discussion on this thread nor would I ever want to start a thread on this type of subject. The only purpose of bringing this up is, as I said, to keep these people in our prayers. Full scale pilots are our fellow fliers. I have tons of respect for our full scale partners. Unless anyone has positive things to say, there is no need for a responce, just prayer.

Thank You Liberator for your last statement : "Regardless those folks will be in my families prayers."

Kevka,
First and formost, no disrespect intended. Liberator is right, if you have been reading this thread, its like putting the ole round peg in the square hole. Again no disrespect.
It is more than appropriate to start a thread on your subject, in fact I think it is a good idea, let it be known, and then we all get a chance to pay our respects.

I think we all agree that it's stupid to stand on the runway. I don't mean to change the subject but I have to point out something here. If it is stupid to stand on the runway(and it is), then why do the helicopter guys and even more offending the 3D guys go out on the runway and hover their aircraft within a ten foot span of themselves? Havent these guys heard of engine failure or radio interferance?

Wow! Didn't see that angle before. It looked like another guy was using a Tx for that plane as well. He was back away from it. Was this one of those scale jobs that utilized two radios?

I guess the thing with those 3D and heli guys standing near their crafts while flying is that they are not in the process of bringing in a lame duck. I'm sure their heels would be saying hello to their butts when something does go wrong.

You should check out some of the Hemple videos where he is laying on the ground while he hover his huge biplane inches above himself. Of course, the guy is a wizard or something... I mean when you can land a plane with half a wing, what can you say. And how about Sabastiano's trademark kiss on the tail feathers while hovering. These guys are incredible. DISCLAIMER: Don't try this at home boys and girls.

Mustang,
Good point! My only play on that is at least the 3Ders and the helis is at least they are only putting themselves out there. If you want to put yourself at risk, no problamo!!

Hi Tim,
I respectfully disagree having observed a twin electric have its right MOTOR fail which the father noticed when the twin electric aircraft piloted by his son:was throttled back during a pass down the run way. Both the father and myself noted the (right) motor had temporarilly stopped while in flight and the father referred to a (programing error with the controllers) during which time the son landed the twin and anxiously went back up un aware there had been a failure .. and sure enough the Rt. motor failed (again) and in it went. Then the father communicated to the son there had been a programming error-

yes but its a human error if you set everything up sloely and carefully and test and retest the odds of an electric having the same problem is much lower. hell they are all models why cant we all get along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im a captain us army and work with uav"s we power 90 % electric. why are you so against this. So according to oyu a electric warbird isnt a warbird?????? Makes no sense, you have to adapt to new technology. lipos and brushless are the borg of our hobby. and I do charge my lipos and enjoy every second of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the message Tim but my first statement still stands. This forum wasn't concieved to promote conversion of us unpure 2 cycle flyers to electric flight. I don't care what you fly or why. We will get along when you stop pushing your conversion wishes on others. I haven't seen one post about getting you electric guys to come back to the fold. That's not what this is all about. Accicents happen and will continue to happen as long as there is a human factor to consider, electric or two stroke so just leave your conversion talk out of the conversation and let everyone fly what they wish. I am retired from the Navy where I did 26 yrs of service working on missile launching systems. That doesn't make me any kind of expert on anything either.
