ok i went to the local K-Mart tonight and i saw these lil what look to be 5th or 8th scale rc honda600RR bikes.. standard crappy tyco.. but whats this.. no training wheels.. hmm .. uses 4 AA batteries for the bike.. hmmm cost me 20$ to pick it up.. headed straight out to the parking lot and tried it out.. "had it not worked well it would have went straight back in!"
and what do ya know .. IT ACTUALLY WORKS WELL turns nicely to the turn bumpers levels out well with a bump of direction handles very well..

now back at the house.. tore it apart.. wired in a micro connector modified a gws 1100mah 8.4 volt to 7.2 "it was a hex pack longAAA style batteries" ripped off the rider had to add a piece of antanea wire because the original wire is spooled inside the rider.. and the range was crap in the end i probably removed counting the heavy alkaline batteries and holder 2-3 oz of excess weight my new battery is velcro'ed in took it out for a test.. WOOT .. ill guestimate for now 20-25mph straight as well as thru the turns.. i plan to modify the turning skids to allow the bike to lay over just a bit more the turning radius is kinda wide and all that on a half charged battery .. i checked temps internally quickly right after the 10mins i played with it nothing hot.. no gears stripped it takes the extra voltage well .. tho its not a proportional bike. on off throttle and brake with tap the button steering for wider turns im really suprised that an old battery i had lying around from my flying days and 20$ got me my first "and pretty decent" rc motorcycle.. ive been after one but the cost is quite high for a good model "ele version" im not a nitro guy so that option is neither plausable nor cost effective for me anyway.. my new experience and first post in the motorcycle forum hope i didnt bore anyone..

oh .. btw heres a pic

oops edit.. i added an antanea tube of course and you can go to www.tycorc.com to check them out if you like.. and .. no im not a kid lol.. just po folk that make due

Pretty sweet....was the $20 regular price and is it a standard item there? If so I'm definitely running out tomorrow in search of one of these

yes it is a standard item and you can buy them at quite a few places the only real trick is gettin it apart and removing the rider.. he takes a bit of... hmm gentle persuasion? lol other than that its pretty nifty one note tho.. it may just be mine but when it binds up or starts to bounce it sounds as if its stripping gears.. now ive taken it completely apart inspected every single gear from pinion to final and have found no evidence of wear because of this... seems as tho tyco engineered it into the bike to act as a clutch sort of thing to keep things from getting broken.. tho if you do happen to call tyco and let the person on the phone hear the noise via runnin the bike and abruptly stopping the rear wheel with your hand they will send you a certificate for the approxamite us sales value .. FREE SPARE PARTS!!! .. so ya if anyone gets one and it makes this noise.. its not damaging anything BUT you can get a freebie out of the deal

Can you post a picture of the box or any more information on it? I want to go get one, just haven't seen one at the store at all. I'm going to run back out to K-Mart/Target/Toys R Us and see what I can find later though.

Just went out and bought one...was only about $20 after tax and a 2 year warranty (no questions asked )

So far I have taken the rider off and swapped the batteries for 6 2/3 NiCd batteries (~$5 from Radio Shack) It's been running like a champ, but I'm going to have to swap out the controller, the buttons are very clicky and have a lot of resistance to them, will probably go with an old playstation controller or something along those lines. The non-proportional steering really isn't a big deal, I've been able to control it pretty well so far.

I've got a new motor that is waiting to be swapped in, as well as an old esc that a friend had lying around that I may add later (if I put a bigger motor in and swap to lithiums).

ya its a really well dont lil toy and it taught me how to run my new kyosho bike actually i think if it werent for the tyco id have had alot more trouble learning the kyosho so i think its a great investment for anyone that wants a bike to learn on
for the button issue i took my controller apart and backed the button actuator with a lil bit of paper to give it a faster click that seemed to make the difference
