Hey guys I thought i would start a thread on this one. I just got it yesterday and my overall opinion of the kit is very high. Quality is some of the best i have seen. Very well built!! The wing tube has me stumped as to why they filled it with wood. I know its extreemly stong but its heavy!!! Im putting a DA50 in it with 8611A servos. I hope she flies as good if not better then my old 25% cap with the same setup. Ill try to update pics as often as possible and plan on starting construction this weekend.

If you can keep it at 15 pounds or less, it should be a good flyer. I will be truly disappointed if these things come in at 17.5 pounds with a DA on them - anything with more than a 28 ounce wingloading on a plane this size flies like a tank, and 28 ounces is pushing it! I'd like to see one of these at 13-14 pounds with the DA. Gonna need a CF tube, CF landing gear, CF spinner, stock muffler instead of pitts muffler, no choke servo, no matchboxes, no heavy batteries, no powerboxes, and no pilot to even get it close, I bet...keep us informed.

If it has foam core wings, then that is why it has the wood on the ends of the wing tube.

Is the whole tube filled with wood or just the tips?

no foam core here!! I will do the best i can to keep it as light as possible! It will be my imac plane for next year because of the unfotunate loss of my 25% cap. if it flies near as good as that thing did with its 31oz wing loading (14Lbs 73in wing) then i will be impressed.

the tips are plugged but i believe there is a wood stringger that runs the length of the tube. If you smack it in your hand it makes a ting noise like if you hit something solid so i am assuming that it runs the length of the tube

Well guys ill post some pics later of what i have completed but i hate to tell ya i have had a really crazy week at work and havent gotten much done. I did get a chance to weigh the wing tube. It weighed in at 7.5oz!! To me that way to heavy for a wing tube so i think that when the budget allows i will be getting a carbon tube!

    Till later

    Hey guys,
I think I'll carry this wing tube under the seat of my truck. Its heavier than the billy club I've got under there now!

yeah that would be a good use for it!

Well im waiting on a new stab right now. I was sliding everything together and had a factory glue joint break in the L/H elevator half and im not going to cut it open and repair it! I do have all the servos installed now and plan on beginning the hinging process tomarrow

Here are some new pics! The tail wheel assembly is awesome! It weighs about the same as the carbon fiber one i have for my old 25% cap.
