    Hey guys,

Im just looking for some advice on this build. Everything is almost complete except for the motor mounting... I have never installed a gas motor nor the batteries and electronics for one.

The motor im using is an Evo 45 GX2. I would like to know how to go about marking to mount the motor since I can not find any dimensions or template to mount it to the firewall and I dont want to mount it crooked. Also what capacity lipo should I use for the ignition? Im using a 2200 mah 7.4 lipo with 6v regulator for my receiver power so I would like to use an ignition battery that will be good for as many flights as my receiver pack so I can save some weight and not go overboard with a larger battery.

I have 2 Futaba S3004 standard servos for throttle and choke. They should work fine?

During assembly i saw that the rear stab is held on with the 2 small joiner tubes and 2 screws... There is a little give with just the screws so should I epoxy or ca the stabs in place or does it fly fine with just the 2 screws?

    Thanks!

Anyone have any photos of their throttle and choke (if used) linkage setups? Also fuel system setup? Id like to get an idea on how to route and hook up everything as well as what to use for my linkages. I would like to use a servo to open and close the choke as well. I would just like to see photos of currently flying setups so I have an idea on where to place my gear, what to wrap in foam and routing of fuel lines and engine linkages.

    Thanks guys

The choke is on the right, I am using aux2, I don't like the auto-choke. The manual works fine

    Hows this look?

Thanks for the info and help so far. Also do you know what the silver and additional gold barb are on the carb aside from the crank vent tube? I know one is a vent for the crank case, one is a pickup but whats the third?

That looks great, I like the carbon fiber. The top 2 nipples are connected by a clear tube, this is the crankcase pressure for the fuel pump. Don't forget to use some triangular stock where the motor mount joins the firewall(I used 30 min epoxy), this is very important.

I just went and made that connection to both barbs. When I unboxed the motor it was only connected to the highest one and I couldnt find any documentation on it.

I will attach triangular stock as soon as I get some. I did coat the whole mount/firewall area in 30 minute, and is it ok to mount my ignition on that angled piece on the motor mount thats back behind and low of the muffler? My spark plug cable is a bit to short to mount it inside. Besides inside of that motor mount area is a perfect place for my ignition pack.

What is the best type of servo to use for the throttle linkage. I used a Fut 3004 but it seems to stick out a bit to far. I used a cable in a tube to make my throttle linkage but with as high as the servo sits the tube just lays againsed the side of the fuel tank. Is there a lower profile servo I could use to gain some space so I can bend my pushrod tube and secure it to the inside of the fuse? If this explination is not to clear i'll go take some pics.

Install the ign. unit in the box behind the carbon fiber wall(look at the photo), use foam and velcro, cut a hole for the spark plug wire, make sure nothing binds. I am using the JR ds537 for my throttle and choke. Use a servo that works good, I don't know a lot about Futaba, I started using JR back in 1990 and have too much to change. The choke is a little tricky, it kind of snaps(spring loaded), I am using golden-rods, no metallic from engine to inside the fuselage, it will cause radio interference. Make sure to line up the choke and throttle linkages being careful drilling the holes . Since I retired and divorced, I am up all hours of the night.

This is how I did my throttle. I havent cut the choke in yet. I might just hook it up so I can open and close it from inside the fuse somewhere manually. Im still not sure yet.

Yup. Pretty much anything beyond the DA-50 adds up to a wing loading that's pretty high.

Here is a picture of how I did it. It's actualy on different Extra with a DA-50 (BME), but shows pretty well the method. I can reach it through the cowl and push/pull the choke lever. Saves a lot of weight over a servo.

I have a BME 44 on a 1st generation Cap and I also operate it manually w/just the stock linkage on the carb (no extension). Just stick my finger through the cowl opening and move it one way or the other.
