ORIGINAL: jzinckgra Flew my cap for the 1st time yesterday. Took off effortlessly with the Moki. was running too lean and she almost deadsticked, but I got her down. Floats nicely. 2nd landing wasn't so hot. Broke the wheelpants and pulled the gear plate loose. Probably a good thing, cause now I can get some real epoxy in there and not the lousy hotglue. Looks great in the air. I needed ~1/2 throttle to keep her cruising, but found 3/4 throttle was best. She may suck the fuel quite a bit, but it will be worth it. Ended up with ~10oz lead in the front and balanced slightly nose down at 6.5". Inverted was practically hands off. Very pleased so far. I finally fixed my landing gear block, which required an additional ~4x6", 1/4" ply on the inside for the new blind nuts. I did have to add some epoxy here and there and also replaced a lot of the ply on the outside of the fuse (underneath where the gear mounts). I put larger wheels on too (3.5" . Now I was a little surprised when I re-weighed, which was 16.2lbs. I know epoxy weighs a bit, but I didn't add that much . Wondering if it might be worth getting the cf wing tube/tail wheel. The stock tail wheel is soft and I'm sure the cf tail wheel would allow me to remove some of the 10oz lead in the front, but I think realistically, by doing this, I may only save 1/2lb. Not sure it would be noticable or worth it. Will refly this wknd.
