The jello comment refers to my sense of the aircraft just floating through everything, actually much easier and more forgiving than with a real model. I learned to TR and do it well long before i ever touched a sim. As I said in my last post, the propwash thing has helped and I'm exploring other adjustments as well. I didn't mean to get you all upset, but I have a right to my opinion as well. I think is time it will be a great program. But I maintain it needs some work. I'm still using it, and learning from it. It, 3.5 is so much better, inmy opinion, than G2 that its not even funny. All I know is, when I did the upgrade to 3.5 I didn't like the response in hover and TR nearly as well as in 3.0 I think harrier performance, both upright and inverted is very good in 3.5. Rolling harriers are pretty spot on, too. opjose, there was nothing inflammatory in my post, just an honest well thought out opinion. relax.

I just bought my LHS last copy of G3. I’ll download 3.5 when the bugs get worked out.

Just finished the install but for some reason when I try to launch it goes to the registration screen for about one second then just cuts out. Could it be the server issue they've been having? Its too late to call tec. support so I thought I’d try hear.

No the registration servers appear to be running fine.

Actually this is less of a "floating" or lift problem than it is an attempt on KE's part to correct something else.

Try moving the C.G. forward and you'll find that the plane will have less of a tendancy to float.

Sorry for venting, but I'm been seeing a lot of posts from others who have taken both my and other peoples words out of context and started posting about "poor physics" when this is not true.

There are some minor variances (which most people couldn't even spot) and some changes that affect all models, which should be corrected...

e.g. 3.5 does seem to have a wing lift value that is a tad too high. Coupled with the c.g. effect movement and you get what you are describing.

Lower the overall wing lift in the editor to 85-92% and move the C.G. forward.

This will correct what you are seeing.

opjose,
I know what you're saying. thanks for your comments.
Hey, thanks for the CG tip! I'll bet I actually made that worse, when I moved the CG back to try and brong more authority to the tail. You suggestion should make a positive difference. I think its simply amazing that you can lower the overall wing lift. When I got into the advanced editor I couldn't believe all that was in there. For those of us that consider the sim a serious practice tool I feel THis sims contains all the necessary building blocks.

Thanks again for your help and best of luck in your work.
sincerely,
Dave

For me the physics editor is the best part.

If you don't like the plane behavior, or it doesn't reflect how you have yours configured, merely change a few parameters and there you are.

(I believe) I've gotten quite good at it, and can now pick up a few spec sheets, look a few things up on the net and put together the physics for a plane that I've never flown before, that is accurate enough to astound the designer of the RC plane itself.

(See the Jaartworld site for the Jart or RCWarbirds for the Pogo and others...)

That is more of a testament to G3's physics than anything else.

The first time I took up my Funtana I was showing it off to some friends, performing a bunch of stunts.

I had established that I could do these stunts in G3, and tried them all at the field that day.

I actually got quite a number of OOhs and Aaahs, but the real surprise (to them) was when I told them that the only reason I knew how to fly this particular plane and do these stunts with the plane was because I had practiced them all in G3. e.g. I had never done them before.

Anyway back from wild tangent... 3.5 needs tweaking.

Then again so did 3.0 and KE acted upon most of the suggestions making 3.00.448 VERY accurate.

The saga starts again...

For the most part, the G3 to G3.5 update has been working for me.

But I have questions on the following planes:

"Flyzone SkyFly EP RTF":
I get a message "Unable to locate LiPoly 1500mah".
When I give full throttle, I hear a noise, but the plane does not move.
Should I go into the editor and create a variant with a known battery?

"Flyzone Cessna 182 EP RTF" and "SkyShip":
On both of these, I get the message: "Could not be loaded. It is based on a variant of an aircraft you do not have."

That will happen if you get a bad download. You are missing files.

Try a complete re-install, and get up to version .448.

The download the large single file and apply that update to 3.5

My previous update to 3.5 was via a single large (~260MB) file.
I just downloaded it again and compared it with the version that I already have.
The current version and the version that I used are the same (byte level comparision).

It sounds like the other part that I should do is reinstall G3 from my CDs (from ~ Jan. 2006)
and then go to the G3 web-site to update my version of G3 to version .448
before reapplying the G3toG3.5 update file.

Thanks.

Wife and I just bought a $1000.00 worth of computer, for x-mas, to get the G 3.5. I'm looking to practice during the winter on it and get better at 3D. This is all new to me so I'll be asking lots of questions. I'll also try the online mode if anyone else is up for it.

Give it a shot, some people have had problems with the single file download, and have gone with the online updater to fix this.

KE says that you must be a 3.00.448 to upgrade to 3.5.
