The Storm Launcher can go on water. The Xpv can't.
The SL is bigger and looks better.

The storm launcher is also 3 channel, and uses a lipo. I would ditch the xpv thing. More people will know stuff on the storm launcher and it will be better quality. I am pretty sure it ia also fully proportional?

I bought an XPV at TRU. It also uses lipo and requires an additional batter/charger purchase bringing the total to about $100. Initial ground tests revealed a misaligned motor and consequent erratic performance. No flight data yet until I fix this problem.

I have an XPV actually I have had 2 of them. The first one quit on me after repeated lawn darts into wet grass. Anyway, the XPV can fly very well with a very slight amount of work. Just add some weight up front in the battery compartment. I use about 10-12 grams of weight as far foward as I can get it. With no weight up front its too heavy in the rear and just rocks back and forth on the wings and then inverts and lawn darts. With some weight up front its much more stable. It still climbs out smartly under full power and will cruise along nice under low power. I have the XPV battery and charger and a TP 480 mah LiPo as well it flys well on both batteries, at least 10 minute flights if not longer.

Its a pretty tuff machine as well because I have crashed it repeatedly into the ground, it rocks, against a light pole, just about anything you can think of. No damage to it, other than some scuffed tape. Fun machine to fly. I've got my money out of it for sure..

My xpv flies great. I had trouble at first, then I followed the directions for turning in the air and now no problems. One bad thing, it drops about 20-25 ft. when it rolls. so you need to be about 50-60 ft. up. Also make sure when you are flying low you only hold the turn stick for 1 second and then let off or YOU WILL LAWN DART.

Garrett1234567,

Glad you found a good buy on these. Not too sure about the return activity though.

I saw a couple of young kids flying one of these in a housing area yesterday. The 12 year old had this thing doing spiral dives and all kinds of funky stuff in the air. I would say that the XPV looks like a more agile flyer compared to the Storm Launcher. I own a SL and will be keeping an eye out for a good buy on the XPV. I checked out their web site and it was pretty lame. The flight video they showed was less impressive than what I saw these 6th graders doing on their own. Also looked like they had a battery recall in progress.
