I went to the Stihl site and didn't see it. Are you sure that it's not a leafblower?

If they ever make one you bet ur butt ill be one of the first in line for one!! Im a turbo freak!! Too bad this wouldnt work to well due to how a 2 stroke operates. I dunno if it could actually get much boost pressure... But if a 4 stroke was in place of our 2 stroke engines with a turbo... OMG look out!!

could u turbo charge a 2 stroke if you use the reed valve you can get as that would keep pressure in

the turbo or blower or supercharger will only work on four stroke engines with some kind of valves when the intake and the exhaust are open at the same time forcing air into the intake side of the cylinder it will only go right out the exhaust side causing very lean condition in the motor because the unburned fuel will go out the exhaust right along with the air being forced in,even if you have reeds the only thing that is going to happen there is it will open the reeds to soon and the motor would not run worth a darn they are designed for 4 cycle motors not sure if they would work on the rotary reeds or not but I seriusly doubt it if you want some more speed nitros express make a kit that will go on a zenoah

Two strokes can indeed be turbocharged.. It just takes skill....

That is a TurboCharged Polaris two stroke triple (Sled engine) proof positive that it can be done.

Not very practical, though.

this is a twin cylinder probably with one carb yes it can be done with a 2 cylinder but the results would be less than desirable as far as making a lot more power with it more for looks

Actually it's an inline three cylinder and it makes over 200HP... More than trivial and more than just for looks..

Like I said, it can be done and it has been done many times. It's just not something you "slap" on though, and takes massive reworking of the porting so that you are not blowing the air fuel charge out the exhaust.

Mini turbos are not something we are going to see for RC gas boats for a time yet. To reasistically have a turbine wheel suitable for a zenoah and capable of producing boost will be one challenge. Tuning the motor will be a whole new ball game.

I recommend looking at the performance gains from the trusty old tuned pipe. I am sure the majority on this forum dont have their pipes tuned for optimal performance.

To consider a "bolt on" turbo for a Zenoah at this point in time is like talking about winning powerball - yep theres always a remote possibility but for now it is hype and excitement over nothing.

I second what wadda says it may be possible with major work on the motor but the motor you posted is not a zenoah but you can go ahead and try making one I think you would just piss your self off but what ever if you could make it work you could become rich

For what it's worth..... What I posted is to prove that it can and has been done, you said it "couldn't" be done. I posted otherwise, that's all.

Would it be worth it? No..... Why bother when you can just do simple upgrades like porting, pipes, displacement etc, that yeild more power.

Land and Sea made a blower for 2 cycle outboards for years, and it worked very well. Doing it on such a small scale would be difficult because fuel metering would have to be quite precise to keep from burning up a motor. If it did come about, you would prob spend half a day getting everything set before you could get a good reliable run, then you need to hope the atmospheric pressure or ambiant temp doesn't change much, not to mention regulating the cooling system, keeping clean, dry air supplied and maintaing a proper boost.

Your motor would weigh double with all the bolt ons and possible need for intercooling. Performance boost would hardly justify the work (plus the drag that running the blower would also create). At the end of the day you may have a Zenoah that is putting out 5 or 6hp unreliably.

Last I checked a quality builder can get 7+hp from a Zenoah with pipe reliably - and for hours of running.

A blower or turbo is another one of those "COOL" gadgets thats not going to do more than deliver extra attention at this point in time.

If anyone has the smarts to do it then by all means I encourage it. But I think it is beyond the capabilities of the advanced gas boater at the moment..
