Status: offline 		which engine would be faster in my Patriot, the YS 45 or the Jett .50? and what kind of speeds should I expect out of either setups? Thanks!

Thanks I did that but I couldn't find info comparing both engines. Maybe I should post in the engine forum.

Status: offline 		Well, seems to me that the Jett 50 was a little quicker, based on what I have read- Nobody EVER COMPLAINS about Jett engines!

I have the YS-45 in a Lanier F-4 and it hauls *** even with that fatter and heavier airframe- heck I just have the stock muffler on it! With a MACS 7.5 cc pipe on a cleaner airframe look out...

Cyclic Hardover flies with some guys with Patriots, YS's etc. You might PM him-

From what I have read on here:

The average seems to be in the 110-125 MPH area. With some hitting higher and lower speeds based on the set-up! Depends if you have retracts, small or no intakes, and altitude and nitro %'s

Status: offline 		Yall looking fo me! We have several Patriots and F20s. To be honest, the YS 45 with a Ultrathrust gives the Jett .50 a good run for its money but i have to give Jett the edge.
* One other thing i see here is those who have the YS always seem to be fooling with the engine adjustments. I guess it goes with the territory. The Jett is very user friendly. As simple to adjust as an OS.
*One other way of looking at it with your wallet is by the time yu buy the YS and ad a pipe or ultrathrust, You come close to the cost of a Jett which comes with the Tuned Muffler.
* Another thing is customer service. I email Dub Jett regulary and an answers right back! cant argue with that. take care, CH

When you have outstanding service, PLUS outstanding motors, you can get a little more moola for them....which he does. I luv mine!

And...he's just a few states west of ya!

I have no experience with the YS 45, however, I have heard good things about this, and all the other YS's for that matter.

Who services these? Is it Hobby Services? If so, They've always had great service also.

Let us know what you decide.

Status: offline 		Thanks for the advice guys. I will be using the Jett .50. Do you guys know what kind of spinner I can use on it to match a thunderbirds scheme. I would use a Dubro red Plastic spinner but not sure if it will stay on?? Thanks again

Jimmy,

If you want SPEED... use APC Pylon Racing Prop 8.8x9 to 8.8x9.75 D-1 hub. These are proper props for high speed application and they have a thicker hub for safety reasons. Although, you can use the Sport Prop just fine, but not really recommended for high rpm.

The APC 9x10 is too much load for the engine and you will have a difficult time setting the needle and over heating problem. Use what's recommended or the Sport APC 9x8, but NOT 9x10.

I agree with Sam. I have hundreds of flights with a Sport Jett 46 and 50 and the APC 9x8 was my favorite prop on my fast planes. The pylon props were good for top speed but seemed to lack a little in thrust for take off. I used a 10x6 when the engine was on my SPAD or trainer.

If you get the Sport Jett 50 I would recommend getting it with the SS (Super Sport) muffler. It is a little shorter and gives higher rpm's on the smaller props (9x8) or pylon props but may not be best for a prop with a load higher then a 10x6. 18,000+ static was no problem with a 9x8.
