As far as HP goes since there are no standard for measuring HP on RC engines no way to say even if some one posted a rating.

Will HPI 87153 3 piece clutch set it says it's for the savage 25/21 heavy duty type option. Will that fly wheel work?

After reading many magazines and HP and torque outputs, the only outputs I trust are those printed in X-treme RC. They fctor in just about everything to give you real world HP and torque numbers. The beautiful thing about them is they do not use the exagerated oupt numbers, they use SAE corrected outputs! XRC is in my opinion reliable becuse they print as many conditional factors as possible. Even though SAE correction does not factor in the fuel, pipe, or plug used, XRC does list these things also.

Nitro engine advertisers do not advertise BHP (brake HP), which includes internal friction (or brake HP loses from the friction of the parts inside the engine). They do not even dare to use SAE correction since an engine advertised at 3HP in reality would make about 1.4 or 1.5 BHP. I'm not sure, but I think they might even exagerate their ideal HP and torque numbers even more all for the purpose of sales.

Anyways, without any further delay, XRC tested the D30M and its peak output is 1.58BHP @ 25000RPM and 67.99oz-in @ 21750RPM (of course, SAE corrected!). They used 30% nitro fuel with 12% oil content. They used a BK test pipe. They used a standard STS plug (I didnt know STS also made glow plugs!). Though these numbers are no where near advertised outputs of other engines, but if we convert these numbers into advertised HP, I bet the D30M is good for at least 3.5 advertised HP.

I'll guarantee you they don't compare. the D30M will blow the Truckzilla .46 out of the water in all categories aside from brute low-end torque.

Jim the whole XRC test was useless.......... as they tested with all 4 head shims and a clearance of 1.1 MM.............. so in the test the motor was makingnowhere near its real power.

I plan to use 20% fuel after I break it in with 15%. What kind of head shim set-up should i use?

Even with all the shims in place, the numbers are impressive as far as XRC test results go. Most high output engines they test, even high dollar NovaRossis, make about 1.5 BHP on XRC's dyno. Though you might say the D30M will do more (I am not disagreeing with you here), the XRC results show the D30M with all shims to still make outputs comparable to higher grade engines. All I'm saying is the D30M straight out of the box with all shims is still a great performer.

As I said in my previous post, the D30M as tested by XRC is good for 3.5 advertised HP. Now, if removing a shim or two increases the compression ratio to really make the engine come to life, then the D30M would probably make 1.6 to maybe 1.8 or so BHP on XRC's dyno (which would be pushing maybe 4 advertised HP)!

Again, I am not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying their test is not useless nor should we discount it. You just happened to find a potential in the D30M that is a very simple mod anyone can do. Though the D30M did not operate at full potential, the XRC result is still impressive.

I got it today! sweet. I ordered almost everything for it so far, just need the pipe and nova shoes, and glow plug. I'll have some pictures of the project once everything arrives.

i was thinking abotu buying a sts .30 but when i saq that an item of 36 pounds to the uk from the US gets taxed, i thought its not worth it cause ill end up paying more as i bought my spektrum dx3 radio from there cheaper for 129 pounds, paid 37 dollars shipping plus another 36 dollars on top of that for tax
