actully it was getting so "loose" today.. so i thought i had broken it.. so i screwed the glowplug back on.. dude.. compression is just what this engine produces before breakfast,
and smoke is what it does at lunch and popping wheelies it does all the time! at dinner it breaks your eardrums!

after awile of hating the engine cos it just brakes my pullstarts i now start to love it!! great engine once you get passed that first few tanks with that really crazy need to heat it to 2000f to even to able to turn it one revelation..

You mean 200F I know exactly what you mean mate coz I've already ordered new tires. I didn't know drifting is so much fun Well I still have to learn though

Oh yeah! If the rad surface is even slightly wet, my D30M will break my Savage into a drift very easily! To get it to grip the road more, I pour lft over soda from the night before onto a patch of asphalt and that is where I put my Savage so it can do some hard take-offs! It is so easy to make it wheely since the dirt bonz will grip the soda so easily.

i am having trouble keeping my temp below 270F if i richen it up 1/16-1/8 it boggs. im not tuning to temp. i get a decent smoke trail up to a point and then is hard to tell, its mainly at high speed.
im currently running brian 25%. CURRENT SHIM's (total .05mm)= (silver .03mm)(copper .02mm)

are these temps safe?

the manulal state 245F-260F.

will 30% help ?

other then the temp thing my D30m runs like a champ. My revo is so overpowered even the pros at my track crack a smile, watching me drive it.

Do you have a gallon of run time on it yet? Never heard of Brian fuel or do you mean Byron? If you have over a gallon on it do not worry as long as you keep it under 300.

270degreesF is not raly a bad operating temp, but if you are seeeing that at only 10tanks and still have your engine very rich, there could be a problem of air leak or compression ratio.

Try to change to the MC-8 plug, the MC-59 you used for break-in did its job. Also, retune for the MC-8. If the plug change does not help, RTV seal the engine and attack all possible air leaks if you have not already done so. Then attack problems on the carb; put teflon on the LSN threads to stop possible leaks there.

You could reduce your compression ratio by doing one of 2 thing: order more head shims for your engine and add them to the existing shims. Or, you can get a short plug (OS #8 for example). These are band-aids since STS big blocks are meant to run on long plugs.

As a last resort, if your engine is still giving you problems even if your needles are very rich, call STS and see if they could replace your carb. The LSN is notorious for leaking air (thus back to he air leak problem) and a properly machined STS carb will 99 times out of 100 fix your problem; the carb is usually at fault to bgin with.

For sure those are two of the top ones but I am sure that there are others that have maybe as much and some that might have more but probably not a lot if any.

I have not done a STS pull starter yet as I have not broken mine but have done quite a few others. You have to wrap the spring in the outer housing first. Then you wind up the cord on the hub or what ever it is called with out the hand then you have to put the nub in the housing on to the spring, which can be a pain. There should be a small notch on the hub put the cord in the notch and make about two revolutions tightening up the spring a little. Now poke the string through the hole and put the handle on. Sorry not the best directions I know and my communication skills are not the best.

I all so want to say there is some variations do to the way different pull starters are made.

i am using the mc-8 currently and it is a great plug. idle is smooth, and so is the throttle. the fuel inlet on the motor seems to always sweat, and im affraid to tighten it any more.the slide on the carb is really crummy. it sticks at 20% 40%80% 100%. it is not smooth at all. my friend has the same motor as fresh as mine, and his sticks also. My motor is always clean i sealed it after breakin but i am still new to some aspects of nitro.

should i have a smoke trail at 100% throttle at max rpm ?

it boggs when i richen it up .

it looks to me that my piston is really black in one spot, and my exhaust port is black too is this normal. i have never taken this motor over 278F thats was max temp.

is this motor to much for my hyper 8 pro ?

2 1/2 total gallons through the motor Bryon 25%

I adjust the carb and the linkage on the carb where I get as straight pull as I can get and all so run a return spring. Have to run a return spring as all my vehicles comply to sanction rules. It has all so keep run aways from happening.

Sound like you might still be a little rich.

I would think the Hyper 8 pro can handle it as far as not breaking but I never run anything other then a 21 in my Hyper 8 pro once again do to sanction rules. I do not think it would be any faster then a STS 21 other then may be the D21E as all STS big blocks have the same stroke but will have more torque.
