Hey TD21, I just received notice of a FedEx tracking #. Supposed to arrive Wed or Thurs. I'll keep you posted and try to post some pics. Seems like this thread is pretty dead. I'll see if I can keep it alive with some assembly pics. I don't know if it was the trigger or not, but I had opened a file claim with Pay-Pal just this past Sun night. Maybe I will get a Christmas present

It seems he can be a bit slow to get the item shipped. I went through the same issues (page 11 of this thread) where I thought I was gipped. But I finally got what I ordered and all was well. I got the stickers, wing bags and a hat too!
I'll post some assemble picks as well. Not until the new year when I focus on the build.

Just got mine today. Took everything out of the box for inspection.. Covering looks great with no wrinkles in the oracover!! I did find that the cowl was dented right on the top of it.. Kinda sucks but I really dont wantto mess with waiting again so I think I will deal with it since it did not crack any paint..Also not all of the hinge points were drilled?? On each surface each end was drilled and thats it.. Guess they missed a few. Other than that overall a nice looking plane and very light. I just wonder how it will stack up to my funtana x100?? The f-x100 actually has a shorter span with more cord and more wing area!

Each surface on my Katana was drilled at each end and had a hinge inserted (not glued) in those holes and the surfaces were taped to the wings and stabs.
If you run your finger firmly over the hinge edge of the surfaces you may feel the holes under the covering. All the holes were drilled on mine.

All of the holes were drilled on mine as well, maybe not drilled straight, but they were drilled!

On a side note, the SFG's seem to work very well, it still snaps very crisp and cleanly, but the knife edge flight and harrier are much better. I would say the alpha in knife edge flight has been cut in half and long slow rolls are much more axial when it gets on its side. I am very pleased overall. The most astonishing facet of flight is how slow it will fly, I harriered it in directly at me yesterday afternoon and I thought that it would never get back, it was sooo slow.

I need to experament with a larger diameter prop on my OS 1.60fx. I am running an APC 18x6w right now and I have to hold a lot of right aileron to hover due to the torque, I moght see if the OS will swing a 19" or 20" prop to get a bit more airflow over the surfaces. The airplane flies great though.

Thanks rocketman.. I havent taken the wings out of the plastic yet so I guess I didn't look good enough.. Am I nuts for thinking of putting a light 45cc gasser onboard?? I fly with great throttle managment. This plane is built so light it just scares me to think about it shaking apart.. Just really dont need another glow guzzler.. Got a 300 twin, bgx, satio twin, a satio 120, and 150, that are all thirsty. I have 80cc and a 100cc aerobat's and was looking at making the katana extreme my mainstay to practice 3d with for my bigger gas stuff.. So flying this every weekend and a few times a week is what I plan on, hence needing a gas engine for economy and simplicity..

My plans kind of got cut up when I made them, but I will see what I can find. They only took 3-4 hours to make and so far I really like flying with them.

taildragger21, You'll have crazy power with 45cc gas, but the firewall engine box is not designed for a direct gasser installation. The manual recommends a few extra steps before installation along with a soft mount:

7. Gas Engine Installation: We recommend a few additional steps in mounting a gas engine to the firewall. First, we
recommend the firewall be drilled and pinned in place on all four sides of the engine box. Next, you want to make sure all the
tri-angle stock on the inside of the engine box is glued in place well and hardened. We recommend soaking these joints, as
well and the triangle stock in thin CA glue in order to insure the joints are strong and secure. The fuel tank assembly provided
is for glow fuel only. If you elect to install a gasoline engine, the stopped assembly needs to be replaced with a gasoline fuel
stopper assembly along with all the fuel tubing. We recommend Tygon fuel tubing for gas. It is important to complete the
engine installation before attaching the wings to the plane.

Just watch the vibrations and you should have foamy power.
Cheers

Nothing long winded, just wanted to say WOW! This airplane will make you look like a HERO when it flies. What a great plane.

Hey everyone, well about 1 month after paying, mine showed up this week. I haven't given it a detailed inspection yet, but initially, things look good. Decals and hat included. My issue is....I got to the point of thinking I wasn't going to receive the plane. The wife and kids said I HAD to have something to open Christmas morning. So....I went and bought a GP SU31 3D. Ha ha ha, now here's me with 2 planes! That's not a terrible deal since this one was relatively inexpensive, but I'm not sure I need to put servos, batteries, engine, etc. in 2 planes which will each do about the same thing. I've already started building the GP SU31 and love it so far. If anyone wants one of these Katanas absolutely new in box, send me a message. I paid $200 and shipping was $49. If no takers, I'll probably end up assembling it over the summer or something. Or, I guess I could put it on eBay. It does look like a great plane.

I'm in the process of building a katana right now.

I'm using an OS1.60FX with a Perry pump. The only problem is, that I don't know where to mount the pump.

Has anyone used this setup, and if so, could you please explain to me how the pump is installed?

Pictures would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Chris
