So this Katana has a pipe tunnel?

Anyone have pics?

Sounds like a new home for my MVVS 26 w/ pipe instead of the Brison.

Yes it has a pipe tunnel just like the Giles. It is covered so you can't see it unless you cut away for the pipe. Very nice way to do it for those not using a pipe.

How have you liked the Mvvs. Mine started to get tight and needed all new parts and a spacer to keep the crank from hitting the backplate. It has abpout 5 flights since and is now tight again. All seized up it seems The oil mix is right and used the mobil racing oil they suggest. This thing is the biggest piece of sh-- i have ever used!

I bought my MVVS used and only have a dozen or so flights on it. It is definately finicky(for me). I don't have the recommended header, so that may be the cause of some of the peaky power. Also seems like I have to tune it every time I fly it. The more I think about it, the more I dislike it. I don't know, I guess i need an expert to tune it for me. I've also thought about just sticking a Pitts muffler on it, but don't like the thought of a 25% power loss because of it.

Good grief gentlemen, are we talking about the MVVS 26cc gasser here? I believe they sent me the good one. Mine runs beautifully and turns an 18x6w APC at 8800 rpm. I did notice that the big chunky Walbro carb has coarse threads on the needle valves and you need to make tiny adjustments to get it perfectly tuned.
They may have sent me the good engine but I got the bad pipe that oozes a black mess out the back end (see picture).

If the pipe tunnel on the new Katana XL is like the tunnel on the UltraRC Giles you will have to lengthen it to lay that long MVVS pipe flat in it. As you can see in the pictures I just angled my pipe downward to clear the back end of the tunnel.

Actually, they lengthened the tunnel to accomodate longer pipes so it will fit without any modifications.

Me and a buddy(who also has a problem with his mvvs) are taking mine apart to see how bad it is tonight.

UPS delivered an UltraRC Katana XL to my door today and blocked the door with it. I had to go out through the garage to unjam the front door.
It looks like I'm one of the believers who was willing to buy without video verification.
The pictures show my inspector, Hoku, doing his job.

What the h...?! See, now you have me considering gas again after my mind was already made up to go glow. I had given a brief thought to moving my MVVS 26 to the Katana and using a Bisson Pitts muffler instead of the pipe because the pipe has been troublesome in that it keeps burning out the silicone coupler.
Now I have to also consider using the pipe on the Kanana because the Katana's pipe tunnel is 6 inches longer than the Giles. That will allow the pipe to lay flat and not be angled as I have it now in the Giles. I believe that angle is what causes the premature burn through of the header coupler.

So, TOFAST4U2C, I was going to start the assembly immediately but it is your fault that I may spend the Winter trying to make a decision.

OOPS??? I thought you were going to try a Brillelli 46cc??????? The extra 6cc's cant hurt right? That would be my choice, as bigger is always better right? You could always put the 46 in your next big wingger when you take the next step up.

OK, I've made my decision, I'm going glow. I was influenced by the arrival of a brand new OS 1.60 today.
Since they made an "Xtreme" effort to make the Katana as light as possible, I'm going for light weight all around. No iron behemoth of a gas burner up front, no heavy servos, no heavy batteries (only one battery), and light weight plastic spinner with lightened aluminum back plate.
Even the new Futaba 8 channel receiver is smaller.

OK, RM.
I have a new OS 1.60 hanging around too. I am going to put that in a Seagull Superstar but I just got a CMP Katana 1.40 which I want to try the Brillelli in...

So, get your Ultra Katana going and give us all some good input. Thanks in advance and full speed ahead.
