Charles, the gear doors baffle us all. The nose door on our airplane is the correct length. As I mentioned in a previous post, the torque link from the strut to the door broke while I was trying to test fit it, so I'm not sure if it will stand up to flight or landing loads. Also, the manual has you install the aluminum slide rails on a piece of plywood, then glue that to the door. The problem being that the door is curved and the plywood is not, which doesn't leave a lot of glueing surface. We had a chance to look a full scale F7F in the Naval Air Museum a few weeks ago. The door attached to the nose strut covers about 2/3 of the wheel well opening. The remaining third is covered by two small doors split down the centerline. Might be easier to make that work than play with the kit setup. We've figured out how to hinge the main gear doors, but haven't yet come up with a simple way to actuate them. I suspect our first flights will be without gear doors also......
