Hey Andrew any chance on getting a drawing of the firewall and cowl with measurements? I want one of these but would like to install gas engines but I don't want to cut up the cowls and have engine sticking out all over the place. Would really appreciate it.

Hey warks 62 when I ordered mine I got the specs from VQ it looks like the G20 or the like will fit and hide within the cowl.

Hi fgpierce,

No problem with the kit description.

I've really only just assembled the airframe in the lounge room - I haven't started building as such. However, I must say that the fit of parts does seem to be good. Even the nacelles, which are trapezoidal in shape, marry up very nicely with the centre wing panel and tips, with no unevenness in the fit. Control surface gaps (at each end of the surface) are reasonable - probably about 3/32" at each end. A little more than I would have if scratchbuilding, but quite consistant and not at all offensive. Because the flap(s) hinge lines are not at a 90 degree angle to the nacelle sides or the fuselage sides, there are necessarily larger gaps there.

I'm currently pondering what material can be removed to lighten the structure, as mine will be electric. Much of the structure is reasonably light (eg the complete (big!) fuselage is 1650gm, including the overwing fairing). However, each nacelle is 910gm, excluding cowl! The Dremel will be earning its keep, me thinks.

I took the retracts & undercarriage to the club field last week, & everyone seemed quite impressed with the quality - it really does look good. I'll be flying off a (slightly lumpy) grass strip, so it'll be interesting to see how the oleos hold up. I may end up putting coil springs between the oleos & retract blocks, just to be sure.

Still very impressed with it.

Keith

n9331v thanks for the reply. What motors are you going to use? I talked to Paul at KMP and he recomended if using gas then a G20 would be a good match. I am not ready but will be in a while have to finish a couple of other projects then I am ready for this. This will be my 3rd twin and have always thought a F7 looked sexy and sleek. But the only way I want it is if it is gas and I don't mind a plug sticking out but not anymore than that. Plus carb and exhaust have to be considered. The Evolution 26 is also another one I am looking at since it is front carb and only exhaust will have to be considered. If you have any other thoughts or anybody let me know.

Andrew, do you have an updated status as to the delivery and customs? Also are you able to tell me the status of the one I have on order if I give you the LHS?

Warks 62

I have decided on using the G20's and I will change the ignition to C&H due to battery life and weight like I used in my B25. I was thinking of using the saito 170 radials due to the sound but I just cant make myself go back to glow. I plan on using the Fema onboard starters that will work with the G20's that chasrb mentioned and like the B25 I will use the dual smoke system. Another bonus with the G20's you can rotate the the cylinder head on one engine so the exhaust exits the same side as the other.
Once I get the F7F I plan on ordering an extra wing take it apart and make an electric folding wing since I cant do bomb doors etc.
When I finished my B25 it came in at 25lb and with the G20's it will really pull the plane when you want it to.

Thanks n9331v keep me posted I am about 6 months away right now but I think I will put a deposit down real soon since I expect it to be that long anyway. Paul had said that all the shipments so far are spoken for anyway. I too am thinking about the G20's but know that the ign would have to be changed. Maybe by then Zenoah will of changed them by then. They are taking way too much battery life for me. I also had thought about the Roto 25 since it is very compact design.

Hi:
The container is expected to be delivered on Tuesday to the door! If all goes as planned we will start to ship on Wednesday. The wait if finally over for the lucky few who get models from the first batch.

I also just got confirmation that that the next batch of (30) F7F along with the Typhoons and more Stuka's has just left the port in Hong Kong and is steaming its way here. Estimate about 31 days from today to our door.

Cheers,

Yes I got it about 12 days ago as well as a nice Typhoon for company.

Unfortunately I don't have room to build it at the moment. I've only taken time to slide it out to drool over the bits and pieces, play with the retracts and pull out the manual and then reluctantly put it safely away. I will be using a pair of Magnum 1.20 four strokes and 3 blade props. Although I am thinking maybe about using gassers, depends how much it's gonna cost me as I already have the 1.20s.

I'll wait till everyone else has had theirs flying for a while before I tackle it. Besides I've got to do the P38 then the B25 before I even think about touching the Tigercat and there's all the singles as well!

Now if I could only find some time!

Cheers
