Hey guys,

Presently and in last 3 months I have been taking care of my very ill father in the hospital.
Since I traded n partial sold my C130, I haven't looked anything to do with these models, same goes for scale props.
One of the original posters of this thread have a nib kit, wheels and fiberglass lower nacelle portions that he offered to me at very good price, it's now matter of time till I get it as replacement of my first Palmer C130.
When I start my new kit, I will be able build it right and how I want it without working 10 steps back to more 1 step forward.
My new C130 kit build will be powered with electric brushless motors with capability of deserve thrust on it and all the bells and whistles on it.

Our club had a great meeting last night, AND come to find out our new president has over 4000 hours flying C-130s. He has offer to answer any questions and help in any way he can. So if you find yourself wondering about flight characteristics or the like, let me know and I'll ask him.

Hey Prof Looney,

The reason there are discrepancies in the Palmer plans is because there was a formula to follow for his work. Like if the is a bold line you measure from one specific edge not the middle. get the idea? When we started using the middle of the line it throws you off at the other end of the construction. There are other rules like that but for the life of me I can't remember what they are or where I found them, but there are the key to a Palmer plan. Now if you have a remade Palmer plan where someone has gone back over and made all the lines one font size or another, then all bets are off. I still have a set of original Palmer plans before he past away.

yea i have an original set i had scanned in then cadded over. I at one time had the docs that went with the plans and used themwhen trying to put it all together. my paper copies got lost during a move before i could scan them in and i called for another set and he wanted friggin 25 bucks for the instructions. it was not for the young what i said next when i heard that. the instructions arent really instructions but the key to his unorthodox labeling system so i never got another set. but I was putting it together using my cad drawn and the originals but because he throws so much BS on one sheet it was hard to discern what lines were for what. maybe some day I will try again and if I ever get it together redo the drawings so they easier to follow. one of my biggest problems was figuring out the square balsa core frame for the fuse to put all the formers on to. plus the fact the sheets were in 3 diff parts and when i lined them up they didnt match at all.

Yes, I have a new set I paid $15 for from Larry at PCK, which isn't too bad. I have my originals too I wanted to see what the differences are from 06 to now. I think like anything else, we can sister in pieces of wood to make pieces fit correctly. It is frustrating though. I know I'm putting carbon fiber pieces in places to strengthen the structures so that isn't in the plans, but that's what makes this fun, seeing what we can do. Look back at Mike's build(Ukerduker) he has some awesome add ons for an AC-130 version, I extended my version to the J length, so be creative and have fun

OK, I'll put my money where my mouth is. I will build mine as a Coast Guard HC-130H-300 out of Elizabeth City.

So where is everybody from. Is there a somewhat central dc event that we could show all of oteur C-130s? Right now I'm wondering if at AMA headquarters wouldn't work pretty well.

I'm in N.E Illinois, but I am still working on mine. Fuse just about done and rudder too. Changing from RCV90SP to maybe like Olsen's. Four years and still working it when I get motivated like this. Mine was to have Portuguese colors. I'm stll a year off at best though with my schedule.
It would be a cool meet though .

Gentlemen,

Have a look at this event, tell me what you think about it as our meeting place in say 2014?

http://www.indianawarbirdcampaign.com/

Seems somewhat close to the center of our group except for our way west coast folks and our overseas friends.

Hi Guys,

I'm considering the 87" with centuryjets retracts. Are the main gears without shockabsorbing - and is it an issue on grass fields? Thanks

Best regards
Thomas

Here is the reply I got from the company who were going to make scale props for these models for us:

"Hi Sam,
Indeed a lot of time passed already. Sorry but I have dropped it after a few attempts of building hub and spinner. then more important things came along and I slowly forgot about it. I am still busy with other things and cannot promise anything at the moment.
George"

So it's safe to say he has no plans to make these anymore at this time.

Ah, too bad about the props, I was thinking of buying oversize zinger props and sanding the ends off till they balance. It would give a fatter blade look and be closer to real blades instead of the taper on the current blades. What do you all think?
