as i told before, i relocated the rear shocks and did some other things...

i took a 7,2V racingpack, added a 6V reducer and located it under the seat,
so i have an extra weight in the rear for more traction
and with the good old sanyo rc2400 subC NiC-cells i have more power and safety in cold conditions,
than with NiMH-batteries or normal humppacks. (don´t use AA-batteries, especially when it´s cold and you have powerful servos, cause the batteries will break down in a short time)

with this extra-weight, the rear is coming down for 1/3 from the highest level,
so in progress of working, the suspension has the way of 1/3 going up and 2/3 coming down.

...then i went out for a test.

cause in germany isn´t any snow, i took the in-line wheel skies for testing on grass.

the suspension now is working rather realistic,
there is no nervous jumping anymore and the sled is running in a smooth way...

but:
i had to tighten the track very hard to keep the track on the idlers,
cause the negative side of my mono-arm suspension is,
if the front of the carriage is going up, the track is quite loose, when its going down to the ground it fits again.
(you can see it on the pics i posted before)

now the track is as tight, so my hyper21 works hard on it and will not get to the rpm#s as it should.
if i give the track more space (by adjusting the screws), the sled is running really fast but only a short time,
because the track jumps off the idlers, or the pulley is turning free.

does anybody has an idea how to fix that problem?

...sorry for my bad english, but i´m not really used to write in this language...

i´m using the stocker system from a savage (flywheel, 3 shoes) with the 0,9mm clutch springs from mugen,
this works excellent.

try to loose (?) the track step by step by using the screws in the back till the track jumps off the idlers,
then go back to one point before... finished

you can also add a pair of springs in front of the scews, this helps a lot...

The Art attack is a great snowmobile After alot of work. and i mean alot. solving the sleds problems with money (buying aftermarket parts) will quickly run you into alot of money, time working on each part of the sled can yeild better results. alot of us doing our own modding all seem to come up with different ways of solving each problem, but as long as they work the end product is a pretty decent sled. heres some pics of mine after recent work...

If you want to go over the snow instead of through it i would suggest the gearless track and pully setup as well as the suspension mods or some form of them that are on the artattack web site

Sorry for the newb Q's but I was wondering what size of servo is required for a nitro version ie throttle and steering servo's? Also has anyone attempted to join two tracks together to make a mountain sled type thing? I know a lot of work would be involved in the suspension for this but I just wondered if it would be possible to join two tracks? I have a brand new kit sitting in the garage waiting to be built.

Any servo should work but i would at least use a HD one for the steering. As far as joining two tracks together i suppose its possible but i sure dont know how to do it and i have not seen it done. I know others have tryed to fine longer belts, including myself, to use with little sucess. The stock track is not very flexible and takes a lot of power to turn it. Check out the pictures above. cutting out every other lug (if your going to use the stock one) should be your frist mod. Also cut out as much of the inside lugs as possible and still be able to drive the track as others have complained of snow build inside causing the track to jump. I use the gearless track and pulley, run the track loose ,and never had any problems. Also check out the Artattack website for the front and rear suspension mods. Either do your own or order up the parts but widening the front end speaks for it self and any mod to the rear end is better than the stock setup. If you just wanna run on hard pack add some studs and away you go . If you want to pound on it or go over the snow like a real snowmobile than this is just the beginning. Good luck

Tank stuff wont work.....cause.....a snowmobile needs traction and floatation. Floatation from the width and lenght of the track and traction from studs (hardpacked snow) or lugs (soft snow). Check out pictures above. A tank has all its weight over the tracks .A snowmobile (as in nitro engine) has most of the weight on the front skis. A electric engine snowmobile at least has some weight from the batteries(under seat) over the track to help with traction. The problem with the Artattack is the the track lugs are to close together so you cut out every other lug.The track is to narrow and to short. There is not enuff room in the tunnel to add traction aids except for studs and the tunnel isnt tapered. Also everything is plastic so almost any modding is gonna add weight.Like i said in the other post if you run it on hard packed snow , and dont pound on it , it works ok with a few cheap mods.
