If there is anyone having trouble with there landing gear breaking like I am a quick fix is to take a drill bit about the same size of the post and drill all the way though the skid works great until you have time to order more

I just test flew my Falcon 40 and man is it great! I could hover and I had total control over it while flying in my very small living room (no room for error)! This thing is great right out of the box! I made the usual adjustments and it was ready to fly. One thing though. When I increase the throttle to a certain point, the heli vibrates badly. What's that all about? Other then that, this heli is perfect for me. Of course, owning a Lama V3 first helps a lot with the learning curve.

Oddly mine was doing the same thing. I loosened the blades a bit and that made it worse, then i tightened them back up and all the vibration went away... Weird...

I noticed on my tail rotor that when I move the tail to the right, I have extreme power but when i move it other way it actually slows down to a stop if you take if full left. Is that normal for these heli's? I also notice that when I take it to the left that the heli seems to lose some power to the main rotors. It is possible I may be inadvertently lowering the power as I am taking it to the left but this seems pretty consistent. I noticed the tail rotor is a solid piece unlike my old gasser nexus 30 which actually changed the pitch on the tail rotor to, so I thought this might be normal with these little heli's but wanted to check in with others that have more experience on them than I do.

Well, this is my first heli. I now have just about evey RC vehicle possible! It looks like a nice little bird. I spent some time on Realflight 3.5 and learned how to fly the helicopters. I seem to have gotten pretty good on the sim (I can fly around pretty well both nose in an out, inverted flight, spot on landings), but my first attempts to fly this little guy were not so successful. I managed to crash a few times with no damage until about the 8th flight which took out the blades and broke the head. I tried to trim it out, but I just can seem to nail it down. I've got parts comming (as well as a new Falcon 3D ). I'm hopping to have better luck once I get her fixed back up.

Cheers,

Dave

Yes Mr Doomsday, this is normal. Since the heli has no means to vary the pitch of the tail rotor blades it adjusts the RPMs of the tail motor instead. If it has high rpms, the tail swings oppostoite of the main rotor torque, so to swing the tail the other direction, the tail motor RPM is deliberately decreased and the torque of the main rotor pushes the tail around for you.

I posted a neat way for you to experiment with the tail rotor and learn about the gyros purpose a few pages back. Check it out and you will end up answering your own question better than I can here in print.

Doomsday, what the tail rotor is doing is totally normal for these types of helis. When it speeds up, it fights the torque of the helis main rotor forcing the nose of the heli to face right of its original position. When it slows down, the torque of the main rotor causes the nose of the heli to face left. The tail rotor in all helis is an anti-torque device. It, in combination with a gyro of some type, fights the spinning of the main rotor (called torque) so the heli can even fly at all. The reason your gasser changes the pitch is because its either belt driven or driven by a fiberglass tube in the tail boom. Either way, its driven by the main rotor's motor and it can't spin independently.
