ORIGINAL: disney1 Momning All: I just upgraded to Li-Po batteries, and was wondering, which way is best to leave the batteries overnight? Should they be left in a dischargeed state or should they be fully charged. These things are not cheap, so I want to be sure to get the best life out of them I can. lipos can be damaged if they drop below 3V per cell (so 6V for a 2S and 9V for a 3S). lipos also have a good shelf life... I have a 3S, and my bird stops lifting off the ground at 10.5V. I have left it like that for days before I charge it up again (it's still well above 9V) If you going to fly every couple of days, I wouldn't think it would matter if you left them discharged (as long as they are above 3V/cell) or if you charge them. But as sheerider and UTM say, if you're going to charge it back up again, let it cool down first. quote:
ORIGINAL: UTM It is said that if they are going to be stored for a period of time (ie you're going out of town for a week and cannot take your heli ) they should be charged to half capicity for long term storage. I wonder why "they" say charge it to 1/2 capacity? I would think that fully charged would give you a longer self life...
