Mike, for the rubber grommet on the tail rotor get a peice of fuel tubing for a RC nitro engine and just cut a small peice off slide it on the tail rotor shaft and your good to go. People have also cut the eraser off a pencil, drilled a small hole in it and used those. I have never found a source for the actual rubber grommet itself. If your are going to replace your stock skids with the Super Skids your can use the small tubing from your stock skids. The Super Skids are a wise investment. The flybar paddles should be level with each other and the leading edge should face the same direction as the leading edge of the main blades.

thanks for the replies guys, very helpful!.

Hi Guys,

I had my Falcon 40 delivered a few days ago and I have been lurking around this post trying to read up on it. I already managed to bust my landing skid strut while trying to trim it in, it seems that the SuperSkid is a good replacement from the stock skids so ill most likely be ordering that instead of replacing the OEM. I am curious if there are any other commonly replaced items that i could also purchase to cut down on my shipping costs. Also, i somehow lost the little rubber stopper that hold the tail rotor on. I have looked on US Hobby Supply and could not find a replacement, am I stuck purchasing a new tail rotor assembly?

My roommate also just made a comment about the Flybar paddles. For some reason the leading edges (which i assume is the fatter end similar to an airplane) are aimed in different direction, shouldn't they follow each other around the rotation?

Any assistance you can provide will be most appreciated,
Mike Mackenzie

I lost that stopper as well, once you put the Super Skids on use a half of one of the pieces of clear rubber tubing from the old skids.

Yeah, we heard you the first time, why not try the marketplace rather than posting it here twice in 2 days (that's how I traded my nito truck for an HB King 2), in most forums it's frowned upon posting for sale stuff in the general/tech discussion areas. :)
Try the classifieds section http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/default.asp?forumid=282
or the marketplace http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/sell-1.cfm

While it's a great suggestion to try the marketplace, I for one think that reply was just a tad harsh. Perhaps just offering the suggestion without the perceived cynicism may help get your point across.

sheerider1026 -> RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum (7/5/2008 8:14:41 AM)

yes a bit harsh.. was trying to let the guys that already have the falcons a chance to jump on a good deal.. from now on i will know better.. i will place for sale elsewhere.. thanks for the input

I suppose it could be percieved that way, wasn't my intent. Happens alot on forums, you can't tell someones mood, some people see a suggestion, some see harshness. I added a smily face to the post to lighten it up. [:D]

USHobbySupply -> RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum (7/5/2008 5:48:38 PM)

Wow, I'm out of town for a week and 3 pages of posts!!!!

It took me 6 months of constant learning to get the heli in a good hover for a whole pack. But what a feeling it was when I did.

These fixed pitch birds require alot of patience, but once you master the hovering basics, you are golden for larger heli's. There really is no better trainer out there. The coax's (cx2, lama, 5#5) are great fun, but do not require the skill set that single fixed pitch heli's do!

Flew my beltcp some at a customers house last sunday, the wind was 10-15, but I did ok. Not alot of room in the front driveway/street, but enough to get a small flight in.

Cheers all,
Michael

Davidjb -> RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum (7/5/2008 11:31:34 PM)

I've been doing pretty good with the training skids, decided to remove them and see how things went, not well at all! I don't have a smooth surface outside to fly, just a paved bank parking lot that is rather rough and the skids kept catching and tipping the heli over, although there was just a touch of a breeeze, and I think I had it set nose heavy too. Planning on putting the training gear back on for a while I think.
And thanks for the reply to my email Mike, got my battery order in :)

KC, is the throttle stick and throttle trim tab at their lowest setting when you plug the heli battery in?

doc294 -> RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum (7/6/2008 3:01:41 PM)

Got my new flybars yesterday. I've been working on getting the rotor assembly/swash plate/etc apart. Any trick for getting the old flybar out and getting the new one in???

disney1 -> RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum (7/6/2008 3:19:28 PM)

Morning doc294
Ther are a pair of set screws just inboard of the point where the fly bar enters the rotor head assembly. The hex head key that was sent with your F-40 will remove them. Then you can slide out the fly bar. Don't forget to center the new one when you install it.
On a similar note. Most of us that fly/flew F-40's have replaced the flimsey breakable fly bar with one made of piano wire.
Use 0.078" diameter, 175mm in length, with NO flybar weights. The metal fly bar also eliminates paddle twist, and will give you a more responsive and more stable heli.

Keep Her Flying.

Yes guys I still read the F-40 post.

Sanity check: Is the first switch on the back of the radio set in the proper position?

Yeah...um...definitely can't find the hex head key. I will look around but I really don't recall what I did with it. Also, the one made of piano wire...where can I get that???

Unfortunatly,You have to make the metal flybar your self. The length and diameter are in the previous post. The wire can be gotten at your LHS.
a 3' peice usually cost $2.

Chesk to make sure the wires are both solderd on to the motor had that prob with a tail motor

When you say 'no throttle' do you mean both the main and tail motors dead? If it's just the main motor you can switch the power leads with the tail motor to determine if it is a bad motor or a RX/TX problem.

doc294 -> RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum (7/7/2008 3:16:30 PM)

Does anyone know that exact size of the hex head key? I imagine it's metric. I do not have one that fits I have one that is too big and one that is way too small.
