Bones, the details are published in Post 6057 of this thread. The only additional change is the M24 blades (Kyosho). These are better quality than stock, and I seem to get higher headspeed and more wind tolerance. Runtime is around 15mins, with no heating of Main or Tail motor. The M24 blades sound good too!

Where do you get the Extreme 8deg woodies? I will try them as well.

Soul, here is the site for the blades: http://www.ushobbysupply.com/product_info.php?cPath=53&products_id=685&osCsid=cc73425dd42d0d6485e1fa8bafc7d93e

Nice heli you have there!

Here is my take on the 'adjustment screw'

1) Unplug main motor
2) turn on tx, then attach battery to 4&1.
3) Hold on to heli or strap it down tight!
4) go to full throttle and full rudder to get the tail spinning very fast
5) now when you turn the dial in the 4&1 (small pot (as in potentiometer)), the tail motor will speed up and slow down as you make one full 360 degree revolution.
6) find the sweet spot where the tail motor is spinning its fastest. If you go past that point, no problem, just go around the dial again and you can come back to that spot again.

This will allow you to find the setting that allows for the fastest tail speed. This can help in situations where the motor is starting to fade, or you have too much torque for the tail to keep up with.

Have you noticed that you actually do get a change? I hooked up my 4in1 to a o-scope just to see what the pot was doing, and I didn't notice any change on the output to the tail motor when I swung the pot all the way 'round.

see page 239 #5965, and page 242 #6030 (and post around there).

The only time I could detect a change in tail motor speed with this gain adjustment on my Falcon 40 was when I used a very slow speed. Even then, I could never detect any actual change in tail performance when flying. I've seen a number of people recommend setting up the tail gain this way but I've never seen anyone report that they actually saw any real life improvement. I guess it can't hurt to try but, personally, I don't think it's worth the bother. If you've got serious tail-holding problems I don't think this is going to solve it.

I did notice a change, but you have to keep the rudder full left so that the tail is getting the full mix. Its not much of a change for some, as the factory may have had it nearly maxed out in the first place

Until I see otherwise, I'll calling it a placebo!

Hooked up to the scope, I didn't see any change in the output pulse for the tail when I turned the pot. I *can* see a change with I play with the trim tab....
I haven't tried full left rudder when doing these experiments. When I get the chance (two weeks from now), I'll try that as well.

With the main rotor off and the main unpluged its easier to see whats going on. At full thottle I can push full right rudder on the stick and the tail speeds up, but while holding the stick right I can start to turn the helicopter to the right as it should at full stick and the gyro shuts down the tail like its not getting any input. which in flight would be like full left rudder. Any thoughts? If I do left rudder and turn to the heli left the gyro speeds up the tail canceling out the left input.

Creteus, are you turning the nose left and right or the tail left and right, remember you are flying the nose not the tail? Does it work correctly in actual flight?

Turning the whole helicopter clockwise with full stick right and when you start the turn the tail rotor slows.
