Wow!

The xtreme wooden blades?
Having some of the plastic ones would be good as well (HM-004-Z-09)

The xtreme tail blades will only work with the xtreme DD tail motor
Use either the EK1-0219 or HM-004-Z-17 tail rotor blade

lg bearings - good
metal swash - wow
cf fly bar - good
super paddles - nice
heat sinks - always a good idea
cnc Al head - just installing one on my bird now.
super skids - great

You might even consider the super blades from www.super-skids.com

I don't think anyone here has tried 'em, but Gary hasn't let us down yet.

I forgot about those silly bearings - I have lost at least 4 of 'em, maybe even 5 or 6. Keep a large magnet handy like an old speaker. When you crash and the main rotor pops loose, check to see if the bearings are missing. You can often find the bearing by moving the magnet around the area of the crash.

someone wanted to make sure that I REALLY wanted to fly over the weekend...

Saturday:
Flew for a couple of minutes and my tail motor died.

Sunday:
Swapped out the tail motor, but forgot to solder on the wires (I got distracted)... go back inside
Flew for a couple of minutes and the power wire for the controller on the heli broke... go back inside
Flew for a couple of minutes, blade strike on the ground and broke the tip off of one of the main blades... go back inside
Flew for much longer (getting comfortable w/ nose-in now), ground strike and broke the flybar rod and other plastic bits... go back inside... play some Wii

-Dave

I can relate -

I took the Lama to the schoolyard this weekend. Did some side and nose in. It's starting to get too easy, so I decided to try some ff flight. (actually the lama isn't capable of FAST forward, so lets just say I flew around a little).

I was starting to feel a lot like flying around a fixed wing when after about 2 minutes of flight (while making a 180 dgree turn) I heard a kind of thud, and the poor thing fell like a wounded bird. Both upper blades had shattered in flight. Looks to have been stress related. Is this poor thing not able to handle the stress of "normal flight"? I only have one upper blade in my parts box, and took that as a hint it was time to play Guild Wars on the PC.

Wow, shattered in flight! Luckily, nothing came your way!

Awesome.

I use double sided carpet tape to hold down my 4in1. Sticky enough to hold it down, but you can pull it off, and it doesn't leave any residue. Velcro would be another possibility.

I use servo tape, for mine.
Velcro is a good idea, however it will not hold the 4 in 1 securly.
The 4 in 1 has a Gyro in it so if it shakes or moves it will affect the heli.

I've used 2 sided servo tape for the rx and low torque (usually throttle) servos for many years. I find the 2 sided tape from home depot / lowes works just as good at less cost. I've used velcro to mount the big battery packs in planes (going back to when we used 6 or more nicad c cells in each pack), but I'd use tape on the rx.

Anyone had problems with the aluminum rotor core causing a servere wobble.  I purchase one and installed it on two Falcon 40s and had problems with control because of the wobble.  I purchase another a month later thinking I had received a bad one and have the same problem on each Falcon 40..  This time it seems that the wobble (or perhaps an electrical interference) iw affecting the gyro.  Any suggestins?  Thanks

If you mean the cnc core from us hobby it made mine much more stable.

My first thought is where the bearings go into the rotor assy. Should be nice and tight with no play.

Correct you are Karlik.....Thanks.   I thought I had tried everything at one time or the other, but I must have overlooked replacing the rotor head (blade holder).  I found a new one and a set of stock blades, installed them during half-time and the wobble is gone.  Thanks again.

So My falcon's been on the shelf all week as I log some time on a sim.

It took Me about 45 mins searching around to configure My 2.4ghz Exceed 4 ch. Tx to work with the sim, so figured I'd share what I found.

I'm using FMS version 2 with Smart Propoplus interface software (allows you to use mic in input on soundcard to attach training cable from Tx)

Set propoplus to ppm walkera mode

Tx mapping as follows-

rudder 1
elevator 4 inv
aileron 3
throttle 2 inv
tail 1
nick 4 inv
roll 3
pitch 2 inv

Hope this helps someone,  Jason

Just checked for updates to the Clearview Sim, and I'm very surprised.

My biggest complaint has been all models have a really good heading hold gyro. The tail is always rock solid in a hover. Well not anymore... several actually have a rate gyro like the Falcon. They also added a Honeybee FP. I did a little work on the image used to texture it and made a Falcon 40 FP.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhPvYc5CtGY
I gotta say - this really feels like flying the falcon. Changes in throttle make the tail react. It pulls left on liftoff.

There's also a coax lama that has a more realistic feel now.

I can't speak for any of the other models, since I haven't flown anything else in real life.
