How long did you guys have to wait for the UPS tracking to change from "billing information received" to "origin scan"?

Well, got the new battery setup installed. Have a 2-cell 1600mAh LiPo now. Did zero modifications to get it to fit in the original holder for the factory NiMh pack. CG balance was the same. This pack weighs 3 grams (1 penny) more than the factory NiMh pack. Weighed it myself to verify that.

So here's the performance report: Can fly with definite main rotor authority 11 minutes no probs. Had plenty of reserve power to get out of a close call situation w/ terra firma.

Landed and took a reading and still had 7.7 volts in the pack. Thats good.

Didn't want to drain the pack too low and damage it ya' know.

Also noticed I can fly even longer outside if I maintain steady forward flight, getting lift from the rotor disc in forward flight I guess???

If I can draft a camera person, I'll post a video. I'm no longer embarrased about my flying skills. Now, I hover to land and thats about it.

Even tried flying in a light breeze and had no probels , but it took some serious corrections to land when it got gusty. My landing pad is a 4x8 sheet of white plastic (old real-estate sign)

Hope everyone is doing good out there. Good luck, Robo

Hi all.

On the supplied transmitter i noticed that after some uses the throttle trim needs to go more up to make the main motor start spinning. This is about at 3/4 of throttle trim and little more.

Anybody else experience the same thing?

The throttle stick works fine and the power of the heli is good.

Nope, mines the same as always.

Only thing I did was open the Tx and loosened the tension on the throttle ratchet.

Mine was way too tight, made landing w/o a crash a real chore!!!

Hello to everyone, new guy here with a Falcon 40 also, thought I would let you in on my findings. Tail motor went out after 6 flights, ordered two just in case.... have been purchasing my stuff from Raidentech...no problems. I am in Ohio usually have items in 3-4 days they always send tracking no day after order is placed. First thing I did was to install training gear, am showing improvement but is slow. Thought i might share my idea... took measurements from counter top to fly bar, cut some 2x4 material parallel on ends to exact height of flybar. Now I have an excellent reference as to how parallel the flybar is to the ground, make sure bat is plugged in to activate servos. Works great to readjust after crash (have been many) Also purchased an ICE charger and battery conditioner, this unit will charge any type battery!! Works well with my boat and truck also....I can get a solid 10 minutes of fly time and sometimes a little more with this charger, could only get 7-8 min with factory charger and less performance... Many thanks to all who have posted tips and tricks, these do help us newbies, I will pass along any more of my own findings as they appear............

I thought I would pass along another idea, my blade assembly popped off and one of those little bearings came out, luckily i was able to find it. I came up with a solution to keep them on the chopper, take a small straight pin cut the head off then pass the pin completely thru the bearings and rotor head then bend a 90 degree angle on each end so the pin cannot come out and the bearings can't come off. you will need to take a small dremmel cutter and put a slot into the tiebar on the underside of the main blade holder so it will clear the pin where it passes thru the rotor head when snapped back on over the bearings. I have not had a bearing loss since.
Hope this helps you.........

Well, my Fleet of Falcon 40s have served their purpose. For those of you who are new here, I tried learning on a collective machine (Walkera 22E) lots of crashes cuz' it was just not docile enough for a beginner like me. Shelved it and ordered the Falcon 40.

I'm happy to report that I can now fly quite well. Yesterday was my 1st day to fly the Falcon outside on a breezy day. Its OK in the wind you just have to read the direction of the wind and adjust your flying style to always keep air moving over the main rotors. When its windy, I don't do a nice smooth banking turn for fear of a stall. I just use the tail rotor to whip the rear around and have no troubles with wind. Mind you I'm talking about 5-8 mph of wind here, not a real blow like some days have been lately.

So, I'm moving up to my new bird. Its an Align Trex 450SA, with the Astro 020 motor and a JR PCM radio w/ the Futaba 401 gyro, hitec meatl gear servos. Gonna put it together over the holidays and hope to have a mainde flight before new years. Been working a second job at night just to pay for it, the radio alone was a few $$ by itself.

I write because I want to encourage all of you who are having a hard time with the steep learning curve. Some of you have your hands full with a basic tail-in hover. Well, guess what so did I!!!!

Stick with it!!!! Practice Practice Practice Get as much time on the sim as you can, Practice some more and repeat.

You'll have a great time when you get to forward flight and it will come natural to you soon enough.

I'm not bailing on the RCU Falcon 40 bunch though, you guyz are Great, and wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and may Santa bring you all those heli goodies on your wish list !!!!!!

Regards, Robo

I have been reading all the recomendations on using the simulator, I have tried downloading the free one but can't get my falcon40 transmitter to work on it. I am NOT a computer wiz so I am probably doing something wrong. Can someone give me some simple instructions for setting up and using the simulator with my falcon transmitter???

For all of you that are struggling with your practice, practice does make perfect, well not perfect but I am now able to hover around in my garage without crashing. I fly two or three times everyday, more on weekends and after more than a month i am finally getting the hang of it. Over-correcting and not anticipating the chopper's next move have been my downfall. Practice and more practice are beginning to finally pay off, I can see myself making small corrections without thinking and I now see this is what is needed to fly sucessfully. Ant help with the forementioned problem would be greatly appreciated.....................

I tried the "Free Sim" that comes with the Walkera/Exceed helis. In fact anyone can download it for free. FMS website

For me it was not worth the bother of figuring out the port adresses cables and all that computer speak.

Most people recommend a more advanced simulator, but now theres more money involved as usual. Nobody ever told me RC Helis was an inexpensive hobby. Geez.....

Look for a used version of Realflight-G2 ( G2 = generation 2) Lots of people have upgraded to G3 and are selling the older version. Its a very good sim forall aspects of RC.

Here are 4 G2 versions for sale I just found for you on ebay a minute ago...

http://toys.search-desc.ebay.com/realflight-g2_Toys-Hobbies_W0QQfromZR41QQftsZ2QQsacatZ220

Be sure you get the transmitter and the original CD-Rom (don't let someone rip you off with a duped copy)

When it comes time to practice/learn all those inverted tricks, you'll want a "REAL" simulator for sure.

Sorry about the letdown.

MY opinion only of course.

My falcon started developing a horrible vibration at speed pass 1/2 throttle. I've tried moving the flybars, weights on the flybar and new blades to no avail. I've inspected the linkage and gears, all appears to be normal. The funny thing is from time to time it'll fly smooth with no vibration whatsoever. The only thing I've changed are the installation of a new tail motor and super-skids. Any help would be appreciated.
