Most of what was out there flew, from what I can tell.................lots of people either taking pictures or running video...........some really nice birds on the tarmac Friday and Saturday. Most.........including myself though that this event ended on Sunday (a lot of times, that can be some of the best flying), however at 6pm Saturday...........Superman was officially over.

Thanks for the pics.

Do you have any info on the B-57D seen in the second pic?

TIA,

Dan

I believe the Canberra belongs to Sam Snyder out of Texas, you can see more about it here....

Thank you for posting pictures everyone! Looks like a great time! Does anyone have pictures of the king cat in the upper left portion of this photo? Very tasty paint.

That was Jerry Caudles King Cat. He has since sold it. There should be more photos of it on the BVM website.

Tommy, it was great to finally meet you in person and we appreciate all the kind words…but I have to correct you about the A-4 comment, it was Doug (Duky) Anderson and Ali flying the pants off those things all weekend….I only flew Ali’s A-4 once, and that was because I had the engine running for him ready to taxi out and he was too busy signing autographs to come fly……….so I just flew it myself.
I cant tell you how great it is to finally meet some of the people face to face that we see on this forum, please forgive me if I cant remember all of your names….I’m horrible at that. It was great meeting the Houston gang, Tom Cook, David Hudson, and everyone else that I met for the first time. Thanks again for the Houston wife giving me the left over White Castle burgers to help soak up my hangover.
Carlos Reyes and Bob Logan were absolutely the most important people at this event for TamJets and I just want to thank them for all their hard work. I know I complain about Tam selling my personal aircraft…but bringing these two crew chiefs along makes it all worth while. We flew non-stop all weekend and it was because of them that the planes were ready to start up and taxi out as soon as I landed. I Taxi in with one plane, they are pushing out another and I just hit function 84 on the 10X and switch models, turn the plane on, and go fly………of course having a JetCat helps too. Oh yeah, and they did this for every plane we had, and every pilot who flew including Duky, Ali, Smokin Joe, and Jimmy. Thanks again guy’s, you are the best.
I gotta give a big public great service to Chris Huhn from JR/Horizon who spent half the day in Tams trailer taking apart and fixing Joey Soprano’s 10X radio. I lent him my (John Redmans loaner to me) 10X for parts, and got Joey all taken care of and back in the air. That’s the kind of dedication that you will only find from a few certain people and Chris is one of them. Not only did he spend half the day working on a JR radio, but he was there with his family and his Bandit was out on the flight line ready to fly all day, because he just dropped what he was doing to help someone out. Thanks Chris, it was good seeing you again…..We miss you out here in California.

I will post more later because I am almost positive that I will need to defend myself/retaliate after Tam posts some of the 1,000 pictures he took over the weekend. I just wanted to say thank you to all whom made this great weekend possible.

Dave

Wow what a show. My first superman so I thought it was cool. I am so glad to finally meet you West Coast guys.
I gotta say when you boys come to fly ....you fly . I'm sure Tam is still trying to cool down those planes.
Always fun to meet and talk with people you hear about through the Internet/media, and again
Mr. Caudle........ no Gus Hudson is not my Daddy.

Be safe until next time.

Thanks for all the pictures and stories everyone. It is interesting looking at all the details in the backgrounds of the photos...particularly how guys service their jets between flights...from a spaghetti scramble of wires and tubes to neat all-in-in boxes. I particularly like Tam's "aircraft carrier" !!

I see lots of pictures of that little red and white A-7.....does anyone have any details on it??

David, I forgot to mention how awsome your Crusader looked.........please send to California for testing!
I will even buy my own Kero to fly that baby.

Everyone be patient, I spoke to Tam this morning and he is in Arizona on his way home. He will be posting more pictures along with Tamglish subtitles in the next few days.
Thanks again to Jerry and everyone else who made it possible for us to come have fun.

Dave

Man, I am really glad I got to make Superman this year. I will never miss a Superman unless work requires it. Hanging with my friends, talking jets, etc. Gets no better. Unfortunatly, I
elected not to fly even though I was a registered pilot. Some of us left the flying to the pros. They kinda' have to fly to show their wares. Actually, my intent was to fly wednesday and
thursday when there were fewer pilots, then let the pros duke it out on Friday and Saturday.

Few really care what a new jet guy thinks, but I didn't feel the margin of safety was sufficient with the runway and pit layout for me to risk it. My nightmare was to be landing in
the crosswind, make a small error, and takeout someone's scale BVM jet with my $4,000 monokote baby. Did not brief well. I am admittedly a wuss. Jerry's pilot briefing about paying for the
taxiway lights solidified my descision. Maybe he was kidding, maybe he wasn't.

One irritating incident happened while helping call for my bud. Registered pilots were often made to clear away from the fence line, then minutes later there were kids runnin' around right on
the fence kicking an aluminum can around the jets like a soccor ball. BV was the only one with the balls to stop the kids. Thanks BV. Did kids need to be in the pits? Do parents not get it?
The runway centerline wasn't much more than 20 feet away. Saturday it was better.

Kent had a hard job. I think he did well. We did need more marshallers for taxi control. My pilot got cut off by three jets one time, even though it was obvious we were burning fuel, at the
runway, waiting for landing aircraft.

You dudes with the heavy metal that no sooner got airborne and had to land full of fuel due to full scale traffic, handled it well. Hats off.

Part of why I come is to see the goods. But manufacturers...you gotta bring your stuff. I know it costs money, but a bunch of us want to put our hands on a kit to see if we want to buy.
Especially if they are made overseas. You're going to sell a butt load more. That means your complete line of jet choices, not just the newer models. You also don't need folks digging around in your flying examples trying to check 'em out.
There's no other place to window shop jets. I bought one kit, but may have bought something else had I seen it. Thanks for being there though, I get tired of always having to buy stuff on-line sight unseen.

For next year, I'll be there. But, if the runway and pit layout are the same, I'll be shopping not flying again. Besides, I need better sunglasses . The sun was brutal.

Cheers,
Chris

Yes, that is Sam Snyder's, one of kind, scratch build, all wood, Martin B-57 recon bird, with two P-60s. There was a problem with one of the elevators, we think a dirty connector that can not be reached with out pulling everything out of the fuse. So it did not fly.
