Man, I am really glad I got to make Superman this year. I will never miss a Superman unless work requires it. Hanging with my friends, talking jets, etc. Gets no better. Unfortunatly, I elected not to fly even though I was a registered pilot. Some of us left the flying to the pros. They kinda' have to fly to show their wares. Actually, my intent was to fly wednesday and thursday when there were fewer pilots, then let the pros duke it out on Friday and Saturday. Few really care what a new jet guy thinks, but I didn't feel the margin of safety was sufficient with the runway and pit layout for me to risk it. My nightmare was to be landing in the crosswind, make a small error, and takeout someone's scale BVM jet with my $4,000 monokote baby. Did not brief well. I am admittedly a wuss. Jerry's pilot briefing about paying for the taxiway lights solidified my descision. Maybe he was kidding, maybe he wasn't. One irritating incident happened while helping call for my bud. Registered pilots were often made to clear away from the fence line, then minutes later there were kids runnin' around right on the fence kicking an aluminum can around the jets like a soccor ball. BV was the only one with the balls to stop the kids. Thanks BV. Did kids need to be in the pits? Do parents not get it? The runway centerline wasn't much more than 20 feet away. Saturday it was better. Kent had a hard job. I think he did well. We did need more marshallers for taxi control. My pilot got cut off by three jets one time, even though it was obvious we were burning fuel, at the runway, waiting for landing aircraft. You dudes with the heavy metal that no sooner got airborne and had to land full of fuel due to full scale traffic, handled it well. Hats off. Part of why I come is to see the goods. But manufacturers...you gotta bring your stuff. I know it costs money, but a bunch of us want to put our hands on a kit to see if we want to buy. Especially if they are made overseas. You're going to sell a butt load more. That means your complete line of jet choices, not just the newer models. You also don't need folks digging around in your flying examples trying to check 'em out. There's no other place to window shop jets. I bought one kit, but may have bought something else had I seen it. Thanks for being there though, I get tired of always having to buy stuff on-line sight unseen. For next year, I'll be there. But, if the runway and pit layout are the same, I'll be shopping not flying again. Besides, I need better sunglasses . The sun was brutal. Cheers, Chris
