Cool. Thanks. I'm sold.

Speedy,
I was just joking 'bout you turning your SV upside down.

Maybe if you try running her in a higher current water way, there shouldn't be any ice forming. And hey, you might get faster speeds.

Way cool. Good info. Thanks for the Graphs. I to wonder what they would read on IB4200s or 4500s or 3800s.

Oh crap. AFTIHTB... AnotherFreakingThingIHaveToBuy. There goes the Brew cash for next week.

I did get one run on a GP3300 12 cell pack but it was only good in the middle of the run. I hit something in the first part and snagged some leaves @ the end.. The center part was clean. I think it was running wet as well.

You aren't kidding....you didn't hit something.....more like deployed a drogue chute. Got any of those giant squid out there?

Thanks for the 3300 data. Let us know when you can post some of that 4200/4500 data. I think once we get above 10 min runs with the stock motor, we'd be running into problems. At WOT oval, with about 10 min, that might be around 3.5 miles. I know I'm pushing her already with the CF48, but if I were to go to larger mAh packs than the 4500s, I might get bitten. I already prop down with the CF48, but who likes doing that?

You were kidding really? No joking. LOL I know ya were, now dont tell Jallen

I could do the boat plane thing. Now ya got me going. I Feel The Need.

Ya high current no ice would mean warmer water which would be faster. You know what Cold water does.

I didn't want to continue the post in Supertune thread about the discharge theory after storage.
That was the first time I stored them. I also figured I wouldn't be able to get that many runs this winter (first winter in northern Bama) with the wx. Wrong. So I pulled them from the fridge......they had been there for almost 3 wks on a full charge (had 8.34v on the 3800s, the 4500s were under 8v). I let them warm up to rm temp for a day, then repeaked 2 or 3 times to get to the 120F temp, then hit the water. Because I ran again that night with better results on even worse water, I figured it was the batts being woken up. This is probably true and just have to cycle them normally on the water.
Are you saying no to discharging the night before racing to wake the packs up?
I don't like doing this either, but I need more info, more info.

Could you post a pick of your setup. I am getting a littel cramped with Wattsup and GPS in the SV and would be interested if the datalogger is smaller

Do you build your own packs? I was curious if anyone thought of building a "3x3" pack of 6 cells. Just curious. You could get a lot of pack config while you're waiting for the ice to melt. Then mail them down here, I run them, and send them back back if they don't work. Deal, or No Deal?

"If you build it they will come."

Sure, I will get you a pic as soon as I can. It is quite small and sits on top of one of the battery packs. From the ET website is only 17 grams.

Just found the Micro logger, I was originally looking at he Boater's logger setup, was really interested to get the GPS module, but the Mirco only handles heat and RPM sensors.

Speederson,
I will always repeak before use no matter what. Up to 120ish.

You mentioned 3A max on the higher MaH packs. I just shelf charged my 4500s and got to a wopping 150F, every cell, with 4800mAh. First time doing this at 3A. Guess from now on I'll continue with the 2A. This was just a shelf charge for the week. In the past it's always been done @ 2A before. Even my 3800s got warmer than normal. Usually @ 2A I have to fight to get them above 100F. The 3A charge, had them cutting off at 4400mAh. Yuk.
I rebalance at 1A also for all packs (about every 4th wk)

My 4500s should be OK right? I haven't seen them get this hot even in the boat. And this was every cell. 3A no more.

Keep watch on EACH cell temp. Every cycle = life span of pack.
You better believe it. That's why I don't like discharging.
