Randy,

Any update on the build of these nice P-40's. I have the Skyshark P-40N that I just started to build. I am going to be using the new XYZ-50 in it for power. I am still not totally desided on the landing gear. Century Jet or Sierra? I have e-mailed both company's and Century Jet is the only one who has repsonded. Bruce at Century Jet said he would stand behnd his gear and if I had any problems he would make it right. So for know Century Jet looks like the gear I my be ordering.

What enigne did you deside on and do you have anymore pic's of your P-40's ?

Since this review, I am proud (embarrassed?) to say I have bought two more Skyshark P-40s, another in the green paint Chinese version and the other the desert camo British version with the new revised gear pods (rounder than the first version). My first one is nearly done - I finally broke down and bought one of the new DL-50s that I have been hearing so much good news about. I just received it last week so I am spending some time getting it properly mounted with a phone call here and there to RCU/RCSB members to make sure I am doing this right (I know I am, but it is good to have someone knowledgeable to tell you). Anyway, I guess I can take some pics, but there are already two threads that have covered the buildup of this very fine ARF......

randy

p.s. oh nearly forgot, I am using Sierra retracts throughout and Futaba radio gear. The Sierra gear drop right into the gear box with only some minor notching done on the wing tube...

Randy,

I live in Millington,TN now, but I am from Lake Arrowhead, CA. I come out to Califormaon every other year and I have a brother in-law that lives in Moreno, CA. I would really like to see your P-40's the next time I am in Moreno, Valley/ I hope to have my P-40 done but the end of the month. I will be ordering my Century jet landing gear this weekend unless I hear back from Sierra. I think Sierra my be out of this gear so that why they my not have reponded yet.

Jeff,

Yep I sure did try skyshark. Mike siad they don't carry the landing gear for the P-40 any longer. We told me to I should contact Sierra thru thier web site. I sent Darrel an e-mail and have not heard anything back yet. I am at the point where I need the landing gear within a week so it looks like I will be getting the Century Jet gear. Bruce said he has the gear and he will stand behind his gear.

Millington is about 4 1/2 hours from Jasper, AL. We have a big event here in Millington in October and I am useally working in the. It is the first weekend in October.

I've read similar observations about Sierra's slow response to Emails. Sometimes Darrell gets backed up, and that's particularly true when he's been out of town at an event he probably was down at Top Gun last week and has a number of Emails that he has to respond to.
I've bought two sets of gear from Sierra. Each time, rather than "send an Email", I've picked up the telephone, dialed the number, and spoken directly with Darrell. He's had the gear in stock, and each time I've had the gear within a couple of days. If you want to check on availability and order, why don't you try the same?
