Everyone keeps talking about flaps. Mine didn't come with them. Only alerons. Are you guys gutting the alerons to make flaps? At this time I think I will go with Tailerons. I have tried to glue in some cloth hinges on the area affected. What happens is the fiberglass is delaminating above the hinges.

I am going to request a replacement from Anton. Thanks for your responses. Also, what thread were people talking about this? I couldn't find it on this one.

Actually, what they're talking about is flaperons. I had mine set up for flaperons but decided not to use them due to the various comments on this and other forums. I'm going to use ailerons, as I don't like elevons, and I already have the servo's installed.
I'm going to try and get my Nexus running over the holidays, and if I'm successful , I'll probably test fly it in a few weeks.

The manual says not to use flaperons.

Hi Guys:

I just received my F-16 from the builder I had her sent to to have custom lenses made for the inlet side lights, wing tip lights and vertical tail lights. This is my first build ever so I would be very appreciative of any advice you all can sahre with me. First of I want to find out how to install my steering wheel servo in the assembly. I have attached a couple of pictures for you to cehck out. Also what linkage do I use to coonect the servo with the steering arm on the strut? Do you reccomend that I install the servo forst before bolting the assembly into the fuselage? Thank you all and happy holidays.

The F-16 comes designed for elevators and ailerons. Almost all the guys I know have set it up
with elevons and flaps or elevons only. If you use the ailerons for flaps you need to sand off a
little to get enough movement. Like I have said, before, I fly with elevons only.

Hi Tor:
Thank you for that info, I asked Anton and his response was that they change the way they laid up the Kevlar on the new kits, Do you think this will help the situation

I think it will help, at least if you want to use them as ailerons. For flaps,
I still think you have to sand off a little to get enough movement. At least,
you don't have to worry about the ailerons (flaps) falling off while you're
flying with the new system.

Hi fiifiward
I install steering servo on the nose-gear assembly first then slide whole assembly in the fuselage. Use 2mm bolts and helicopter ball rod-ends to connect servo and steering arm.

Alright...I am officially joining the SM 1/6 Scale F-16 club. Ordered mine last week and was told it would be here by the third week in January. Enjoyed reading the thread...sounds like very "typical" issues to deal with BUT overall, it sounds like SM has put a good F-16 together. I think I can just go with a Spektrum 9000 Rx with Gyro on the Elevons. Or go W-tronics since you can get one for CHEAP through Airworld USA...got one for my SM F-18 Super Hornet w/ gyro and GPS for $400 a few months ago.

Maybe mine will come with good flap hingelines and precut servo bays for the wings!!! Jet Legends just came out with a similar size plane for about half the price...FREE SHIPPING in USA but in reading the threads on JL, they have some pretty ticked off folks that have paid for planes and not seen them or just getting parts at a time.

Will continue to watch this thread and add to it as I go forward.

Good flying!
Rex

Congratulations Rex -
that's great, I know you will be happy with this plane!!
Go with the Weatronic, you will need to sync a few servos
and use the gyro on the elevons, it's the perfect system for
the F-16!

Good luck!
