The rudder moves about 12 degrees with the recommended rudder throw. A servo arm moves nearly 40 degrees at 100% ATV.  To achieve the recommended rudder throw at 100% ATV, the linkage must give about a 3 to 1 ratio of servo movement to rudder movement. The recommended setup and supplied hardware gives a 1 to 1 ratio which would require turning down ATV significantly, greatly reducing servo power and torque at the rudder hinge line. One approach to get 100% ATV is to fabricate a long single control horn, which is what I did. Presumably the external rod setup can also be designed to get close to 100% ATV.

Hi Tor,

I am completing my SM F-16 now, and think about not using the ailerons at all.
Have you ever used yours, or the flaps ?
I never did on my SpiderJets F-16, and I don't really see the benefit of it on an F-16, unless I missed a point on the SM...
I'm thinking about simply glueing them permanently to the wings...
What do you think ?...

Nicolas.

Hi Nicolas!

I would glue them permanently - I have never tried ailerons, as I fly with elevons only
like my SpiderJets, and although I do have flaps on my SM F-16, I have only tried it once
while high in the air, and has never needed them for a take-off or landing, this plane
really doesn't need them!! Less weigth and less hassle with clean wings!

Will I see you at JetPower??

Tor

Hi Icepilot,

Could you tell me how you incorporate the water injectors to the afterburner light effect.

Is it simply a smoke pump set up, using water to create the heat haze ?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve -
the details are a little secret for now, as I am thinking about marketing this effect...
Glad you like it, though!

Heads up regarding retract airlines... Make sure that the main gear tires do not touch air lines in the retracted position. The wheels continue to spin after takeoff and retraction, and the tires will eventually wear through the air lines resulting in rapid loss of air. Mine was a pro version FWIW.

Hi

Have a few Q's for the F-16 enthusiasts in here.

I sold my Tiger F-16 last summer. I must have been out of my mind to do it since it did not take to long before I started regretting it
Now I got the opertunity to get it back, and I did not hesitate. This time it stays for sure!

I have ordered a P200 SX for it as I like slow high alpha style flying and need a power to weight ratio greater than 1:1.
Then I also need a new pipe for it. I see Skymaster is also making a "180 and up" pipe for it. Is the pipe OK for P200?
I also recond my old by-pass won't fit any more. Does Skymaster also make a 180 by-pass for the F-16, and will it fit the P200? I plan on keeping the top of, but want the bottom half to seperate the wheel wells from the engine.

Also. What tanks are you guys using as smoke tanks? I will use all 3 fueltanks for the P200, so smoke tanks need to go on in on both sides of the engine in the wing roots.

Thanks for your help!!

Staale -
I am SO happy that you took to your senses and got the Tiger back - you must
have been temporarily insane when you sold her!! Fortunately, she's back with her
rightful owner, soon ready to fly some formation with my new Triple Nickel 555
F-16!!

I have 2 smoke tanks in the belly just forward of the forward gear former......one 22 oz and one 24 oz...the 22 is a bit shorter, since I relocated ny nose gear door air cylinder.....

I want the smoke tanks close to the CG as all the 200 oz of fuel is well forward of the CG.
Anoyone of you F-16 pilots put your smoke tanks outboard of the engine in the wing roots? What tanks did you use?
I want to fit about 1,5 liters/ 50 oz in there.
Unfortunatly I lack the skill to make my own tanks, so anyone knows if molded composite tanks that will fit are availiable somewhere??
