Finally finished it up, however, when I tried to install the tailcone I ran into a problem: it's smaller than the rear of the fuse. The diameter at the rear of the fuse is 8", the diameter of the tail cone is 7 7/8", leaving a 1/16" gap all around. Also, the fuse former is recessed into the fuse about a 1/4" leaving that gap between the fuse former and the tailcone former. I thought that maybe the tailcone telescopes into the rear of the fuse, but that wouldn't look right and you'd have to grind away the glue fillet at the rear former.
I guess I'm missing something here, not sure what though.
Any info will be appreciated so I can finish it up and prepare for painting.
BRG,
Jon

jon tail cone does fit inside the rear of the fuse, cone onto the ply former that is recessed into the end, the step over this area is quite scale.
mine flew again this weekend, superbly by trusty test pilot paul "stone cold" bennet, these things are fantastic, estimate 280km/h and tracking beautifully, some fotos in order(thanks jason)
ps took my strut mod off (the pistons on the jury struts) not reliable enough and no noticeable difference to the ground handling, back to the kit supplied springs now! listen to likai early in this thread!!!!!!!

Hi BlackCat - have you flown your F16 any more? Any other guys who has flown theirs?
It's been very quiet here - I have 25 flights on mine now and I just love it!!!

Nice color scheme - and very visible, too!
Mine can be hard to see in the air sometimes... but I just love the military look!!

Wow, thanks Albert! Is that black in the underside or a gray/blue. Very visable scheme. I have been flying the 1/8th scale general dymanics scheme full time and going blind in the process, (same top and bottom). I can't wait to see your progress. Please post.

This video of the F-18 is very good. Too bad to see a beautifull plane get lost. I think that opening the airbrake did not help on trying to get the jet back to the runway...

Any word on the testing of the tanks, missles, etc to find out if they can be mounted and flown?
The centerline tank would be easy, but I don't think you could do fly with the wing mounted stuff.

Jon

I'm waiting for the same info my self....

Can't see a reason why the F-16 shouldn't handle OK with the ordance mounted (provided strong enough mounts in the airframe off course)

I've flown the SM F-15 with all the ordance on it many times and it handles great. Just a lot of extra drag...

My gear came in the mail tonight. WOW! These are way different than the early models shown here. They have framed the gear in billet aluminum. The whole gear looks to be totally redesigned. No additional carbon fiber needed here! Check out the pics:
