Hi guys, I ran across this thread being curious as to the differences of the giants compared to the .40 scale that I am used to. Wow, a whole different ball game, tail feathers built like wings and hollow control surfaces. I noticed that Tower lists this kit as discontinued, so you guys have a couple of the remaining few kits to build.

I am enjoying this thread so keep up the commentaries and pics.

By the way, good work guys, the only advice I can offer at this point is to take your time, and when you get bored, like on those wings, just walk away from it, and take a break. Looks like Deer season came in on just the right part of the build.

Looks like your coming right along with this bird, I have one that is almost ready to go, just waiting till after christmas to find a new canopy for it and get my prop and a taller landing gear. I am running a Brison 5.8 on mine, I figure that is plenty of power for this bird. Keep up the great work.

Once you get into the sanding, the Christmas shopping will make a nice break.

jr caster lol yes i was thinking the same thing when the dreaded sanding comes up but i think ill use the tips everyone has given and maybe this one wont be as bad, plus i know when i get it done i can get started on the fuselage so that will give me some incentive knowing i dont have another wing to goooooo

Steve,

Looks good buddy! Your progress has lit a fire under my ass to get my leading edge sanded on my second wing. I think I might start that tonight after I get off of work. I dread the tought of sanding those leading edges on the wing and the ailoron, but If I dont do it, then they wont get done. I cant beleave it's taken me this long to get back to building. I guess having a month off I got rid of any bad feelings of sanding. Any ways keep up the good work man and i hope to finish my wing this week. Do you have any clue as to what type of color scheme you are going to use? I will have to put a pic up of what mine will look like. I plan on going with purple, white, black with a hint of yellow. Any ways look forward to geting this giant done. Oh before I forget. I did go to Tower to check out what that gentle man said about this kit being discontinued. They do have it listed as Discontinued. I ended up going to Great Planes.com but they dont mention any thing about it being discontinued so I dont have a clue if it's just Tower not carrying the kit anymore or if it really is being discontinued. If it is then I'm glad I got one of the last ones then. I just hope that I dont ever need a spare part then. Good luck with finishing your wing!

Chadwick

Theo63, yes jgfan does mean Jeff Gordon. I chose the HITEC 5645's for mine, and I am hoping to have mine airworthy by feb. I gotta get thru the holidays before I get the rest of my stuff. Still looking for a good radio also. Cant wait to see what your plane looks like when finished.

Theo, don't worry about your color layout yet. Most of the time it helps to be able to get all of the framework done, and setting in the shop or living room floor before it tells you what it wants to look like. Something else you might want to do is google the extra 330 or extra 300. This is after all a scale plane, and you might want to go off of a real one. That would help if you ever do want to compete in scale events. Can't remember if it is advertised as IMAA legal.
