Has anyone spoke to Scott lately? I have sent several emails & phone messages with no response from Scott.
I was wanting to change carbs to the new Walbro WT-201B to replace the old style carb that came with #6018 GT366.
Anyone changed from old style carb to new WT-201B, what were the results?

Same here. I sent my B46 in for repairs/modifications in January and have not gotten any response. I hope all is well, or on the mend.

Has anyone spoke to Scott lately?

I had a ignition go recently, I emailed him, he answered. I think life is just overwhelming him right now, I'm cutting him some slack now, I've been overwhelmed and know what that's like.

Hey guys I need some help, my engine doesn't want to idle.

I have reset both needle settings back to the stated starting points Scott provides and still no idle (1 3/8 highspeed needle and 1 1/8 low speed needle). When first started it idles fast (2500rpm) after about 20 seconds I will manually blip the throttle and it will come down on RPM (1500rpm). Whenever I throttle back to idle it just keeps slowing down, after about 10 seconds at idle it continues to slow until it's not responsive to any increased throttle input, it just slows until it finally dies. WOT and midrange is pretty good but with a very slight hesitation only third tank of fuel. I have leaned the low end needle to 3/4 out with no change, I have richened it to 1 3/8 same deal, no change. I have leaned and fattened the high speed needle with as I would expect little if any effect on idle. When I pull the plug it's quite wet; this leads me to beleive it's way rich on the bottom end.

I should say the engine was running great until I flammed out and it went in and broke the prop and firewall. An improved battery redundancy setup later I had the engine running great at home, idle, transition and WOT. The crankshaft is fine not bent, timing seams fine at WOT and wouldn't expect it to be bad since it wasn't running when it went in. With the engine back in business and running well, I went to the field and proceeded to tinker for 6 hrs before finally giving up... Related issue? This engine has never liked to restart after it dies on it's own or is shut off via kill switch, it was this way even before going in. I can flip like crazy for 15 minutes and hardly get a pop out of it at any throttle setting. If I leave it for 10-15 minutes with the piston at mid stroke it will start on the first flip.

I would really like help with:
1) getting the plane to idle so I can fly
2) figure out why it doesn't want to restart when it was just running

- I have changed spark plugs and gapped to .25
- refreshed fuel 3rd gallon (45:1 mix Premuim Fuel) but still get a fare amount of sludge from the exhaust
- Battery is fully charged and regulated to 4.8v via Smart-Fly IngReg
- Prop Xoar 22x8 for break-in, WOT RPM is 6960
- Tempature is at about 220-230 degrees F
- Flying field at about 400 feet above sea level and my house is at about 600. I have never had problems with this in the past

Thanks Brian

Can I assume you are talking about a 60? Do you have a picture of the carb?

Generally if an idle goes down by itself it's rich. Your L needle is going to end up right around 3/4 (care it gets very touchy and you need to move liek 1/16 of a turn) H needle will be around 1 turn.

For hot starts you don't have to choke it.

Are you getting proper travel on the throttle rod and servo that is not binding at all?

Thanks Jake,
yes it's the B60 (366gt) The only photo's I have of the carb I posted in Post #1145 of this thread.

Hot starts I never rechoke, I only choke for the first start of the day until it pops then all the way off. Wow 3/4 on low speed and 1 on high I would have thought that was too lean but I'll give it a try. Too bad the carb on this thing isn't positioned a bit better to allow for safer adjustment while running, I'm not about to try and adjust it running. I'll realize these settings are probably from a broken in engine but I'll give it a shot. One of three things will happen it won't run, it runs great or it keeps running like crap right?

As far as proper travel yes no binding and travel is just about right through the transition, half throttle is at 4000 RPM. I'll start fine tuning with throttle curves once I'm in the air again to get the feeling I like.

What do you think the idle RPM should be? I can't recall checking when it was running well before.
Just curious, does 6960 RPM sound OK for a Xoar 22x8 prop with only 3 gallons through?

OK, new problem.
My low speed needle was bent slightly from the crash, everything seamed fine. Well it just broke off in the carb...

Any ideas where I can get a replacement? I don't even know what Walbro carb these use.

No flying for me tomorrow, damn

you can probably take the carb off and go to a small engine shop or chainsaw shop and get a replacement carb or part. just a guess but worth a try.

Give Ralph a call he can fix you up with a new carb, 928 635 2455 If you bent the needle you could have done other damage also.

You can also call Scott for a carb. 201B or a 76 will work on it fine.

Mine is really coming alive with further leaning. I've leaned both the low end and high end at least one full turn since I got it from Scott. I'm turning a Xoar 22x8 at 7200 RPM and I'm pretty sure that's not at the full peak yet. It really pulls my 18 pound Extreme Flight 88.5" Extra quickly in a vertical now. I'm very pleased.

I was just surprised how much leaning it took. I'm at just over 1.5 on both needles.

Jake, I can't believe that it would be ok to go 3/4 on the low and 1 on the high on my engine. Do you think? It's pretty far from where I am and mine is running excellent, maybe a llittle rich on both low and high.

Anyone try a Menz 23-8 ? I tried a MSC 22-8 and it works good but I think a 23" prop would be better..I have been using a Vess 23A and its okI actually like the MSC 22-8 better..

Joe: It depends which carb you have.. I have the 76 with black longer needles on it right now.. I don't know about the 201B been awhile since i played with one but I will be switching this week so I will have some better input. If your engine stumbles cold in a quick transition you are about perfect for the low end. High end I am doing a 23x8 Mejlizk at 6950 hot (a few gallons ago) I am about 150 rpm from peak.

Josey: I use a 23x8 Mejzlik.. uplines - hover pull out is slower but it has nice downline breaking. with a 22x8 Mejzlik I liked the vertical and pull out better but the downline braking sucked so I pulled it.
