Hey guys...

I just had another thought... my side dump muffler only has one pipe coming out... do the guys that are getting the higher RPMs have the muffler with 2 pipes? I just noticed on one picture of the 366gt that it's muffer had 2 pipes off the side dump muffler.

Thanks,

Chris

hey chris, i have the single pipe side dump muffler on mine with a vess 23a and turn 7450-7500 with it. i had the 2 pipe muffler and turned the same. the single pipe is larger in diameter diameter than the 2 pipe mufflers are. also the 2 pipe mufflers are made pretty weak. 2 of them broke on mine and scott replaced both of the ones that broke and finally just sent one of the single pipe mufflers. they are more heavy duty than the original ones. haven't had a problem with mine breaking since.

StPeteFlyer -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/7/2008 2:10:35 PM)

I have the 2 pipe muffler on mine and it is extreamly week. I have had to have the pipes welded back on about 4 times now. Scott was supose to send me a single pipe muffler a few months back but never did. I just broke down and bought one from Jtec.

Hello guys...

More questions and thoughts!

I'm trying to get a little more power out of this engine... 7000 RPM on a bambulla 22-8 after breakin is not great. I tried taking off the muffler and got an extra 200 rpm static... and flew it once (without the cowl and spinner) and it had more power out of the hover. Should I go with a tuned pipe? I may have to mount the tuned pipe out the bottom as there is not alot of room in the fuse.

Any recommendations as for the brand of pipe, and length? Composite?

I really don't know a thing about pipes.

Should I stay with this prop?

Thanks

Chris

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/28/2008 10:22:20 PM)

Get a real prop on there first.

22x8 or 23x8 Mejzlik is the ticket unless all you care about is pull out of a hover and you can try a Vess 23A or B

airlyons -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/28/2008 11:47:14 PM)

Well... what I would like to run is an MSC 23-8. I have an MSC 22-8 as well. I tried both but the RPM came down and more importantly the aircraft no longer had unlimited vertical. I loved the downline braking of the MSC 23-8. Basically the vertical pull was best with the bambula 22-8. (though marginal) The MSC 22-8 was second best... it could still pull out but barely... and with the MSC 23-8 it couldn't climb out vertically. (ie with full power entering into a hammerhead the airplane would decelerate going up till you had to flip it over with rudder because otherwise it would just fall out... know what I mean?)

Do you get that much more effective thrust with a mejzlik?

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/29/2008 12:14:02 PM)

Well a MSC has a very thick blade.. I dont see a 23x8 helping you at all. 22x8 rpms will def. come down. Personally I think a 22x8 Mej will walk all over the bambula.

What plane is this in?

For Pipes you can try an ES Composite or a KS 1060. Both will increase your power greatly.

JoeAirPort -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/29/2008 1:24:00 PM)

Jake when you recommend the Mej props (and you often do), are you recommending them primarily for precision or 3D also? Do they work great for both? I know it's heavier than wood so the spool up might be a little slower for 3D, especially the 23x8.

I'm thinking of trying a 22x8 Mej for a 30% Edge that is a little tail heavy.

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/29/2008 3:09:11 PM)

Either or really. Depending on the application and size of motor than often the 22x8 is better. I do like the 23x3 for IMAC better because of the downline breaking.

Ultimately I have had good luck with the Mej. Vess is a good prop for 3D but you can always tell when someone has one because they are so loud. Guys with Cans and Vess props might as well not have wasted the money on Cans :)

MSC is a good prop as well but it's thick and really loads the engine down.

Some rave about PT props because they are so light, but I tried a couple and wasn't impressed. I was on the Xoar train for a little while.. but after doing some playing around I jumped off pretty quick :D

I wish Scott and his family all the best dealing with their personal struggles. I thank Scott for his passion for our great hobby and bringing these fine engines to the market. Using the part # off my 366GT cylinder, I did some research on the web last night and discovered the cyl, piston, rod and crank originated in the Poulan 3750 timbermaster 60cc chainsaw. I found several websites for parts. So, short of crash damage to the case, we should be able to get the moving parts for some time.

Scott has robbed many people, including my dad, out of money and merchandise. My dad had a brand new, never ran G23 that he sent to Scott, along with 100 dollars to convert to EI. All he has asked Scott for is the motor back. He wants his motor so he can use it on an airplane. He has even offered to not worry about the 100 bucks. Would it be that hard to send a motor back to someone, unless you have otherwise sold it?
Unbelievable how people still think this guy is anything but a scam artist.

Thanks Josey. I posted in that thread, so maybe I can get some info on what steps to take next.

2slow2matter -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/31/2008 3:06:44 PM)

Well, what a coincidence. Just this week, nearly 1 year to the date it was sent off, my dad got confirmation that his engine has been shipped back, along with all of the repairs and upgrades he paid for. Just wanted everyone else out there to know that there is still hope, but you need to stay on Scott. It seems he wants to do the right thing, but wanting to do the right thing and DOING the right thing are two separate matters.

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (10/31/2008 8:36:26 PM)

To the best of my knowledge all of the repairs are basically done.. There is maybe a very small handful left... IE 1 or 2.

I find it funny there was a whole crew ready to linch him and only 2 have actually posted recieving there stuff back when many more have already gotten it back. He is trying to do what he said he would do... which I think should make some people happy.

EXACTLY!!

Although I don't blame people for being upset I always knew Scott would come through.

Communicate, communicate, communicate .... all Scott had to do was communicate with his customers and most would not have been upset with him. But complete lack of communications for many months really torqued most people off! People will always suspect and believe the worst possible outcome unless informed and educated otherwise. All water over the dam now though but a good lesson for us all if we ever find ourselves in the same situation.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

I was among those who posted negatively about Brillelli and my situation with Scott, and I don't regret that I did. It's good that we're free to do that here. However, even if it wasn't on MY time, Scott DID make good on his word that I would get my engine back. That's why I started a seperate thread of my own, so I could publicly man up to the fact. I do hope others who get their engines back will post in that thread also. Vent your frustrations in it if you want, but give Scott his due if he kept his word to you.

Also, if anyone has a cheap Pitts muffler for a 366GT they'd like to sell, please PM me.

3DAP -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (11/1/2008 3:26:15 AM)

He always treated me right and very promtly. So far I have had no deadsticks with the first season over. This engine simply runs awesome!! Nice to hear about the timbermaster chainsaw parts being available. I have seen these engines for sale for 400.00$ I am not going to get rid of mine, I think I might pick up a couple more!! Hope all is well Scott If you get to these posts still..

I got my 26 SSR back two weeks ago but he didn't put a hand on it, unfortunately.

SoCalSal -> RE: Brillelli 366GT *60cc* (12/16/2008 7:21:37 PM)

A little late answer or question.......How old is the gas you are useing? If the gas has been standing around for sometime it will draw water from the air if storage can has a bad or loose cap. I had a similar problem once and found out via a lawnmower repair shop that my gas had water in it. The reason was that the gas I used was about 6 months old in the storage can. Maybe a loose cap or what ever but I just got some fresh gas and re-mixed the oil. Then drained the tank in the plane and re-filled and no more problems. This condition will be found more in areas with high humdity and or rain. But I live in SoCal and it happened to me.

Just a thought.
