One one particularly "dumb thumb" day I nozed in one of my Ultimate 40S's to a chorus of "oh, oh... broken plane"... then went out picked it up, and started it right up and took off. Later I cartwheeled the same plane across our flying field.... while attempting some low level stunts. After people saw me dust it off, fuel it up and take off again, I had several approach me and ask what kind of plane was it, because they wanted something as "sturdy"! Of course a lot also depends upon the care you exercise in the build... I always re-inforce, fuel proof, and add more glue just in case, plus a clear coat... So that little Ultimate had 4 crashes, two collapsed gears, two wing punctures, one loss of ailerons in flight (I was able to get it down!!!), several deadsticks, one broken strut (and I didn't notice until I landed the plane), landing w/o a wheel, etc.... All in one season.... and the plane managed just shy of 160 flights last season.... With a little TLC it still looks new.... and sits awaiting the next flying season. ---- Hint: More solid colorschemes are easier to patch.... that see through stuff is for the birds as are the complex schemes, when attempting small patches.
