Some good progress but still no pictures to add.
I located the servo bays in the wings and stabs, cut them out, installed the mounting rails
All the foam has now been sheeted. I am really happy with how the sheeted foam pieces turned out on this build.
I'm either getting better at it or got luckey....but there will be a lot less prep work needed before covering.

The 3/8 leading and trailing edges have been added to the wings and stabs and planed / sanded to shape.
Now it's time to add the wing tips and cut the ailerons and elevators and rudder free and get their LE's & TE's installed.

I will also take some photos of where I am with the build and post them soon.

OK, finally a couple pictures to show some progress.
All the foam has been sheeted, the ailerons, elevators and rudder have been cut free and the LE's & TE's installed
and shaped/ sanded.
I drew the hinge lines and bevels and marked the hinge point locations.
Tomorrow I will bevel the hinge lines.

Steve,

Keep up the good work ............. Dennis & Caroline said "Hi" from Toledo and asked that you send pictures of your latest Carden when you’re done. They had Wayne's and Albert's Extra's down there this year, they were both just absolutely gorgeous!

Talk to you soon ..........

They are both great looking airplanes...really there have been some GREAT looking Carden's built lately. Their website is full of new planes ready for this summers flying.
I'm really starting to think about getting on the list for a 40% 300. I love the looks of that plane.

The Yak has all the hinge lines beveled. Today I fitted and installed the 1/8 balsa wing roots
and cut out the ailrons for the 1x1 control horn pads.

tomorrow I will set the wing incidence and stabs too.

Back on top but not very deserving. I've let this build thread down big time.
My computer took a dump and I can't get pictures out of my camera now.

Work has been progressing on the Yak but slowely. The fuse is nearly complete. I started working on the canopy frame.
bottom and top deck has been installed along with the vert fin. I don't know how some guys build them so fast or how they find the time.... I'm not slow, not fast....just halffast.

ibow24 -> RE: Another 32% Yak build (1/3/2008 9:14:51 PM)

I decided to bring this build thread back from the dead, if only to show the finished plane in a couple weeks.
I always thought as my kids get older and so do I that I would have more free time on my hands.
Either they are not old enough or I'm not old enough but it seems I never have ANY free time.
I need to thank Ward for being so patiant and understanding about how long it is taking to build this plane.
Drum roll please.....
We are finally ready for covering and paint. Just working out some details of the design and color scheme.
I think it's going to look good.
This Yak was not the easiest plane to build. The rounded fuse created some challanges, especially with the canopy hatch area.
It's still a Carden and it still looks good even naked. Should look great once it's covered.

here is a picture of the stab/elevator finished. A 4 color design we came up with taking ideas from other and kind of making it our own.
We're still not quite sure of the fuse design but the main wings will look like the stab here. I may put a bit of black and white checker pattern
inside the curve of the silver stripe.

Very Nice Steve! [:D] You really are good!

ibow24 -> RE: Another 32% Yak build (2/18/2008 10:33:38 PM)

continuing along with my extremely lame build thread....here's the wing design.
I started on the fuse covering but still not sure exactly what I am going to do with it.
