That's right, there is a new Spectrum out with 7 channels, and it's supposed to be able to be used in nitro, and gassers. I was reading about it at another site. It said it was released at the Chicago Hobby Expo.

I have a feeling that the successor of the 10X could be using spread spectrum technology. Jr seems to be gradually phasing in their spread spectrum line into the glow and gas markets. Looking forward to JR's answer to the 12z or 14mz.

On the "other forum", there is a thread on this topic; Mike McConville CLEARLY states that this is NOT a JR project, but a joint venture of Horizon and Spektrum..... personally, I interpret that to mean that they will develop and release THEIR OWN competition to the 9303 and 10X.

Us 10X owners know darn well that it is getting pretty long in the tooth, and has been for awhile.

I, for one, will JUMP onto one of these as soon as I can.

With this setup, and Hitec 5955TG's, I'm thinking there won't be much else needed....

I hope it becomes fact, and is accurate! Competition is GOOD, and brings us more choices, better value, higher quality..... Of course, we all get to PAY for it.... (see my signature line)

I think this is great news!

One thing for sure, this is in a JR case.

Spektrum uses the same basic case design as the some of the JR radios. I do not know if the rest of the mechanicals are the same as JR.
JR just showed a new 12 channel radio at the Japan Hobby Show in Tokyo today. It appears to be a combination of the JR 9303 and JR 10X. It is also said to be on "A PCM", whatever that means. Anyway, it looks real good and could be just what the is needed. Now if it is available with SS or use an aftermarket module setup, that would raise the ante. Hopefully, the pricing will be similar to the JR 10X.

So, I was looking to get the Jr 7202 this X-Mas for Helicopter flying. Would this be a new choice to really look at? Looks really good to me.

I think it's great, they came out with this radio. We've seen the 6 channel in planes at great distances. I think it was a very poor decision not to have a flight pack battery. I didn't see any listed. I can understand not having one in a park flier, but they said this new radio is for full size model and should have the battery.

I think it is obvious that the Spektrum units are made by JR, as to how much input in the
design Horizon had we may never know. but in any case that not really that importaint.

From what i have read here on the univ from those that have the Spektrum units the
programing is the same as the JR 662 and so are the inside parts.

Already found one REALLY interesting thing.... it has a "trainer" function, and like the DX 6, it will accept other radio "trainer" inputs. When I was using the DX 6 earlier this year, I used the 10X as the "master", with DX in trainer mode. Worked great. Gave me all the mixing and control functions within the 10X programming, but limited to the 6 channels within the DX 6 at that time.

This guy, having 7 channels, and the dual-RX setup "approved" for bigger models means one could use the complex mixes (like for my Ultimate bipe) and make this work (almost)....using the model functions programmed from the 10X. Nobody wants to carry two tx's to the field, of course, but if one doesn't want to hack the RF board into their expensive JR trans, well, at least it's a way to get SEVEN channels working in the new RF mode.

Of course, the case back of the 9303 looks like it was made with consideration to have this RF board mounted under it, and the 9303 is darn near the "top" end of JR.... so I think we'll see some RF board hacks after this thing is availalbe.
