Hello,

I'm in the process of building an old school Aurora pattern plane, actually the PA2, and will be putting the YS 61 rear exhaust engine on the plane.

I'll be running %15 wildcat fuel and an OS #8 plug. What is the recommended prop for this setup?

Thanks!

As I recall, we used to run the pipe at around 15 1/2" to the high point from glow plug, straight line, and run a 12x12 to 13x10 APC. Strong and quiet set-up. We used to run KB1L plugs and these would last half a season. Don't remember if anyone had success with #8s

I have a new YS 61 rear exhaust with tuned pipe(header not yet adjusted for best RPM) that has been broken-in. I have a Master Airscrew G/F Series(Black color) 11X8 prop and it turns 12,800 rpm. I had a couple of old timers tell me this was the better diameter/pitch choice. You will be impressed with this engine. My setup has so much power I doubt I will anytime soon go through the header shortening procedure to get max rpm. It will far outfly my skill level for quite sometime.

K&B 1L plugs are great! I've used them in rear exhaust .60s since my first OS .61VF in 1980 (and I keep at least 1 .60 sized pattern ship active all the time). Oh yeah, running anywhere from 10% to 25% nitro.
