Danny has said in the JR forum that they are not intended for that purpose and will be of no help in that regard.

Of course I will report it. Will fly it this weekend on my .40 plane first. I will get my engineer buddies to do the discharge calculation based on 6.1 volt initial charge, and a spike to 2 volts, to see how many milliseconds it will last above 3.7 volts.

I will write spektrum and ask too.

    let you know.

We are also looking at another idea using a mini battery that is just a few milliamps, and would charge from the main battery when switched on, but remain in the ready. Im talking like 10 milliamp at 4.8 volts, so it would charge from a 6v pack in a few seconds much like a capacitor but slower.

In our projects, we cannot afford a failure of any kind, so redundancy is king.

I set up the throttle cut as specified. I do have a question. Next the AUX2 toggle switch is a little momentary slider labeled + and -. It also points to AUX2. What is this switch for and how can it be used? I checked the manual and scanned the net and I have not found for what this switch is intended.

Somewhere a while ago in here, someone was asking about programming-dual elevator servos with the DX7.

As a 10X user I often use that function. The DX7 being a bit lower in the budget does not seem to have a deciated dual-elevator servo command. I also recall that there was an issue with the elevator trim not working with a basic channel to channel mix.

I tried MIX-1 and the elevator-trim only moved one channel, the elevator. I remembered that the 388 was similar so I tried MIX-6 and "Hey Presto!" the trim function worked both servos. I used elevator and Channel-7.

Sorry if I may have duplicated any prior posts. I just thought that it might be helpfull to someone.

    Regards.

    Eric.

Check page 38 of the manual. It tells you how to select which switch/control operates AUX2. Also glance at page 24 as it coincides.

    Iflyj3,
The little +/- button label Aux2 is the Aux2 digitial trim. Works just like the trim on the joysticks. You must turn in on in the system menu. I can't imagine it would be useful for the Aux2 throttle kill. I have the Aux2 trim set to INH (off).

    Yes.
all this is in this thread if you searcch. Also if you are looking for a good kill mix for an optical or choke kill, see my post on using a mix for enabling or disabling the gear switch/kill.

IT takes two switch actions to kill the motor. saved me already when I bumped the gear switch/choke.

Also wanted to share something I learned today. I set up a Copilot from FMA on a 6200/DX7 today. I enabled the flap program and if you dont know the FMA copilot needs a variable knob to set sensitivity. I used the three position flap switch for Off/Small gain/Big gain. Then used the trim to fine tune it, along with volume limit for the top end. It works great!! In light wind, the light setting can be used, and in heavy winds, the heavy, or during training. ITs on my son's trainer.

Just something outside the box. My friend uses the copilot on his camera ship along with a baro sensor and a gps autopilot. pretty cool setup. the plane can orbit in the wind and send video.

    G'day Mate,
The first thing to do is put the TX on charge, for at least 30 hours, it's a great radio, you might as well give the batteries the best chance of a long & fruitful life.

    K,
Yes it does take a good 30 hours to charge, and it seems like it took a few long charges to get the battery going. However, I left it on the charger for 48 hours once, and blew the fuse. I got 4 fuses at Radio Shack for $2.50. It was a 3A, 250V, and it easy to put in.

I do love all the programming, 20 model memory, and mixing. One year, hundreds of flights over 6 airplanes, and NOT A SINGLE GLITCH!!

The instruction manual p. 58 indicates you can assign a mix to the Gear switch, but that option doesn't appear on any of the program mixes on my transmitter.

I'd like to assign a throttle cut to that switch.

Does anyone know how to enable this switch?

    Thanks.

    You gotta pick your mix...

Not all switches are available for each mix so you have to pick the one that gives you access to the switch you want to use and remember that only mixes 5 and 6 will trim.

I've got a throttle cut on one mix and switch with a flight idle up on the gear switch so I know you can use it. IIRC, mix three gives you access to the gear switch.

Oh, I think you have to inhibit the gear channel in order to do what you want????? Been too long since I set it up....

Thanks Zeeb. Mixes 3 and 4 permit access to the Gear switch.
