    Hello,
I Am a new Dx-7 owner and have a question. I just recently got an Ar6100,and would like to use it in Two planes(Not at the same time, duh!) What I need to know is can I bind It in One plane, with one set of settings, then swap it to the other and Bind again? Or Is the Bind only good for One Plane(Model Match?) I ask this because I am To cheap to buy another Ar 6100 for these foamys! Thanks,Mike

Hey everyone,so im having serious problems and cannot seem to figure this out.Im suppose to be racing Saturday at the track nearby and im having serious issues with my receiver. Its a MX-3FHSS by airtronics and it was going strong until I changed to a flat pack (orion 1600 5 cell). Is this a coincidence?I just bought 2 BRAND NEW in the box hitec hs625mg servos so I can eliminate that right now.My receiver is causing the throttle servo to glitch uncontrollably and rip my carb wide open and my steering servo will glitch and get stuck off centered.I definately binded the Rx and Tx together right and i switched the radio and receiver with my buddies stock hyper 8.5 radio and receiver. It works like a champ.Just not with my receiver.Any ideas guys?Is the receiver shot? Can i fix it?Thanks in advance.

    Mike,
The easiest way is to set up a model on your transmitter for each of your planes. While you will have to rebind each time you swap the receiver from one plane to the next, at least the trims, travel settings, rotational directions, etc. would be saved for each plane. Keep in mind that by swapping the receiver between two planes you could defeat the safety offered by Model Match. If you forget to switch the model number on the transmitter and forget to rebind the receiver after putting it in the new plane, the settings from the previous plane will be in effect!

Hi, I have a simple question.

    Would a surface receiver (AR3000)? bind to a DX7?

I fly helis and planes, but I want to know if I could use my DX7 for boats or cars instead of getting a different TX.

I figure a surface receiver with only 2-3 channels would be cheaper than AR6000 etc.

Any Rx with DSM2 will work with your Tx, I think you will need the AR3100, have a look on the Spektrum web site for a surface Rx that has DSM2 technology.

    Man was I wrong.

Thoes 3 channel surface receivers are expensive. I'd be better off getting a AR6100 and using that instead.
Can anyone think of why a AR6100 would not be suitable for use in a car or boat?

it would seem that the radio and receiver wouldn't know if they were flying, floating, or jumping curbs. I can't think of any reason either.

I wouldnt imagine that their would be any diffrences.. the air recievers are not intended to deal with any moisture or fuel exposure, but its not likely that the ground units are sealed or manufactured in any special way.

Hi all. I have been reading this thread for several days now between work and honey do's. I am returning to RC flying after being away for around 17 years so in reality it is like starting over with all the changes in equipment. My son and I are currently flying a Harger 9 P-51 PTS are are really enjoying it. We have been flying for about 6 weeks now. I am now starting to look at my options for my gear. I have all but decided on the DX-7 since I won't likely ever do any 3D stuff. I will however be building (I use that term loosly) a giant scale size plane most likely a Rascal 110. I plan on powering it with a Zenoah 26EI. All this is of course very new to me since a 40 2 stroke glow engine was a big engine last time I flew and I don't think there were even any programmable radio systems. So there you go.

So now I have read all these glowing reviews on the DX-7 and feel veryconfident it is the choice for me with respect to the type of flying I do and the planes I gravitate towards. Big and not too fast but capable of some moderate fun stuff. As far as programming of the transmitter, is the best approach to learning the programming to just get one and start playing with it on the bench or is there some definitive literature that I could lern the programming from? Maybe that would be called the DX-7 manual.

I appreciate all the info here and would like you guy's opinion on if the DX-7 would be a good match for the airplane/motor setup I am looking at? I tend to lean to the side of making sure there is headroom in everything I do. I would run seperate batteries for the ignition and reciever, increase the reciever battery to 6 volt maybe around 1400-1500 mah, Optical kill switch etc.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

King Arthur, I was like you getting back into the hobby. I had a 40-size trainer 25 years ago, got back in the game just a few years back. I had a Futaba 6 channel. Never used a computer radio. I got the DX-7 and I love it. I sat down with it on a Saturday afternoon after reading the manual. I hooked up the Rx with 4 servos and just started playing. It was fun to program mixes and dual rates with expo.

That got me up to speed. The biggest thing is to make sure you rebind after programming! If I had to do it over again, I would consider the 9 channel (which was not out when I got the DX-7). It's not that you need the channels, but for bigger planes, you can use dual aileron and dual elevator servos. You can exceed 7 channels real fast. Also, I have to buy a "servo Slower Downer" for my retracts ($20 each), and I think the 9 channel has that function built in. Something to think about.

    Enjoy your new Tx!

The most informative article on the DX7 is here: http://www.rcaerobats.net/Spektrum/dx_7_main_page.htm its easier to understand than the manual

I run up too 60cc petrol 2.2M Composite's on my DX7 and have not run out of channels yet with the 7 channel Rx, but I have gone too the 9 channel to allow flexability on the placement of the remote Rx's, I don't run dual batteries, but do run two cell A123's with the a Fromeco Kodiak switch, seperate batteries for the ignition are esential to supress RF interfearance, not so esential in the
