hey,
i recently purchased an IRC vulcan, and now have not been able to get it started, and took it to the hobby shop last weekend, they pout a new glow plug in it and still couldnt get it started. so i left it with the so that they could work out what was wrong with it, since this they have called and informed me that the piston and sleve no longer fit well so there is little to no compression. they are saying that this is my fault as i have overheated it during running in. this is incorrect as i only ran a tank of fule through at a time. i also noticed that in the review on here about the vulcan they occured a similar problem and had it replaced by the manafacture. can anyone on here give me some idea on what to do next. ohh by the way i live all the way downunder in australia.

Just because you ran 1 tank a fuel at t ime doesn't mean you couldn't overheat them.. You could overheat them and blow them during break in.

pre98zetec, hey man
i ran 5 tanks throught it sittin there for run in and then the next next days i didnt run it for more than a tank at a time with at least a 20min break between tanks, also i did not get it over half throtle at any time as i was being very carful not to overheat it.

Do you have a temperature gun? Because I don't see how you know you didn't overheat it without checking the temperature.

BTW, does it 'pop' when you pull the pullstart? by defualt these motor's don't have barley any compression so he may just be misjudging it.

Try turning the LSN 2 turns out from closed and turning the HSN 3 turns out from close (that's a base tune.. it should start right up 3-4 pulls with that).. If it doesn't you've got bigger problems.

Sell it.

Really, you can find a much better car for the same or not much more.

Good luck,
Stone.

hey havnt been on in a while so thought i might update the situation.
i still havnt got my car back and the shop is offering me the parts, sleve and piston for wholesale price $50 AUS. i am wondering where abouts over there you can buy parts from online as i have seen somewhere the touring car conversion. and anyone hop-up parts including all the aluminium option parts as the suspension towers seem to flex a lot.

Hey matt heres a place to buy all the parts for these. or most of them. Diffs for $12.50,, 2 speed for $22 I just got both and this sucker flies...... and as far as your piston and sleeve go you can pinch that bad boy yourself at home on the stove. Pull your sleeve out and piston and then put the piston in the sleeve where it normally goes, push it up and see how far it goes. If it come to the top then yeah it needs a pinch. Pull the piston out, put the sleeve on the stove and heat it to about 270 280 degrees and then drop it into a bowl of cold water. reassemble and your good to go. And please dont jump on here guys telling me it will not work or doesnt. At this point your being told their junk anyways so why not try it and see if it works just for giggles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just did mine and its got more pinch than it came with new............... I have done it to motors countless times. Thats why if you look on ebay their are sellers providing the service for only 15 bucks shipped. LOL On the bigger motors their a little more to do but not much... parts place http://www.larrysperformancercs.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=0

Same thing happened to me, those engines are crap, I was tired of mine, and sold it. No one wants them also, so I got almost NOTHING for it.
